Gearbest: Lots of orders missing, looking for advice

U got it after 75 days ,I would say lucky !!!

Generally 2 months ( 65 days ) is max , above that I believe its pure luck!!!

I got an Olight S1 from Gearbest on free shipping. It arrived a week before an order of two RCR123’s that I’d ordered from Banggood right after I purchased the S1, and some ten days before I received an order of two 18650’s that I’d placed a week before getting the S1. Flat rate, no tracking number. Considering these horror stories, I consider myself EXTREMELY lucky that I got it at all on the first try, let alone so fast. :ghost:

Now I’ve got my fingers crossed so hard they’re in intersecting dimensions for my order of one S30 to arrive until mid-January, even though I did get a tracking number as extra expense.

You guys are killing me. LOL

Gearbest does NOT have anything that is not available elsewhere...but they are often cheaper by a couple to a few dollars. Just like mentioned about tracking...if $2 is too much then maybe you should reconsider buying the product or wait until you can get to the level of free tracking. It is an absolute certainty that there is considerable savings of greater than $2.

What I see is greed. We had one guy that would order several pieces from them and then complain for refunds while he kept the goods and then we have the flip-side that where people will not pay a minimal amount for assurance. That is greed and greed will get one every time.

Feel you do not or should not have to buy tracking....well let's face it...this thread shows that you should and if you do not purchase tracking then it is not their fault but your own. Personally I think they (and all Chinese vendors) need to automatically add tracking and make it mandatory but then people will complain that it isn't fair.

I thought I was one of the luckiest to receive 99.9% of my packages but on review of my purchases I saw that I usually am over the threshold and when I am not I add the tracking. Even when Banggood sometimes splits an order where tracking is no longer included I always check the boxes to add tracking.

In short, if you cannot afford the $2...don't buy it. If you buy without tracking...then don't come crying. THIS WHINING AND CRYING HAS BEEN GOING ON WAY TOO LONG.

Its been more than a week(8 days) since the last negative feedback on Gearbest in this thread ;)!

You are either trolling now or just unintenionally making this thread gather more negative experiences posted, because its your post now that contains negative and accusations towards other members, so expect sh1storm coming this thread’s way thanks to you :D!

Tracking is about monitoring the progress of the shipment, not an insurance to guarantee delivery. If the order is not ultimately delivered, then the burden falls on the shipper regardless of whether tracking was purchased or not. Otherwise, what’s to stop them from keeping the money for all or a percentage of orders without tracking and saying too bad, it’s not our fault you didn’t pay for tracking? I’ve gotten all my orders so far, but rarely pay for tracking, generally on the principle that the additional fees negate the price advantage they have over ordering from another source. However, if a number of my orders start to go MIA from the same vendor, then I would also choose to shop elsewhere. I do see a little impatience displayed here, especially from those who expect delivery in less than 2 or 3 weeks, but 100+ days for delivery is also unreasonable. I’m not saying that GB is great or horrible, but I do know that they are generally slower than the other popular sites when you choose free shipping to the US. The only thing that keeps me shopping there is price and if that advantage goes away, then they go from slow but cheap to just slow.

How many GB points did you get to write this?

I think you may have misunderstood his post. Why would GB give him points for that?

So after waiting patiently for months GB finally said that the order is lost.

First they offered me 15$ which is half of the cost. I refused and now they're

saying they'll give me full credit to use at their store.

Although reading the negative posts about Gearbest all the time, I was just foolish enough to count on them to come through… Not anymore!
Here are my adventures with them in a little more detail:

23.7. Ordered Lumintop Tool - Shipped 27.7. - NEVER ARRIVED - Finally got refunded after 3 months waiting and E-mailing with GB back and forth
28.7. Ordered 2 x P02’s - Shipped 3.8. - Arrived 30.9. So, only almost 2 months in transit!
28.7. Ordered Xtar SP1 - Shipped 5.8. - Arrived 1.9. The post GB uses is really taking its time…
28.7. Ordered 2 more Xtar-chargers - Shipped 5.8. - Arrived 24.8.
30.7. Ordered S30 II and Tube - Shipped 7.8. - Arrived 19.8. So, at least registered post comes through…
Between 13.8. - 21.8. Ordered 1 of each CooYoo 10180’s - All arrived in about 1 month
27.8. Ordered Manker Timeback - Shipped 4.9. - Arrived 14.9. Very quick for GB!
9.9. Ordered Klarus RS16 - Shipped 14.9. - Arrived 5.10
12.9. Ordered 2 H3’s - Shipped 15.9. - Arrived 29.9.
16.9. Olight S15R - Shipped 18.9. - Arrived 5.10.
18.9. Xtar VC4 - Shipped 23.9. - STILL MISSING GB is not willing to refund, than after 3 months… (if then)
13.11. Olight S1 Ti + HC30 Bundle Deal - Got E-mail saying HC30 can be delivered in January, then I told that I wanted the S1 shipped immediately, when they suddenly informed it is also in Backorder! Even that they had collected the preorders before it was released!? - CANCELLED 9.12.
17.11. Niteye A12 - Shipped 29.11. - NOT YET ARRIVED
21.11. 2 x Xtar VC4 - Shipped 27.11. - Arrived 7.12. Again, registered seems to come through, for some reason…
28.11. JM35 & Niteye ECR16 - Shipped JM35 on 4.12, ECR16 in Backorder - IN TRANSIT - CANCELLED ECR16 9.12.
6.12. 4 x 18650 32A + DQG Tiny - CANCELLED 9.12.

The final nail to the GB’s coffin for me was the sudden notification of the S1 Ti, light I really wanted… Guess I just have to cough up the cash to get it in full price from somewhere… :_(

So, here were my experiences with GB and hopefully the last! We shall see how the refunds and missing items come through…
At least, lesson learnt! Cheapest really isn’t the best!

P.S. And all the luck for you guys still wanting to deal with them!

Don’t u use paypal ? my dear

That's pretty ridiculous Tete. Almost every order took an entire week just to ship out.

stay away from gearbest !!!

Sent CSgearbest message this week asking to make refund to Paypal account for 3 undelivered orders, refund received.

Orders were over 100 days in transit :D!

That is the best advice anyone could give.Stay away from gear best.Con artists at an extreme level

I’ve had pretty good results with Gear Best TBH.

Wanna know what REALLY blows?
When an order from Gear Best was shipped out in a reasonable amount of time, you wait the three weeks for the tracking to confirm that the item has landed at your local post office……all prepared for delivery of your large quantity order of high capacity 3000mAh 18650 batteries….

Then weeks go by and the item STILL shows it’s at your LOCAL post office….UN-delivered….and they can’t find it.

Honest mistake….ruptured LiIo….or sticky fingered postal employee?

What it boils down too

Unless you buck up, and pay for tracking, odds are, you have more of a chance that YOUR package will disappear, after it lands in the US and gets to customs.

How convenient.

Yes...it happens every day, thousands upon thousands of times....packages mysteriously disappear.

And you have proof of nothing to argue to the seller, as the purchaser, aside form "you paid for it..where is it?" You did your part (bought) they did their part (shipped)

Without tracking...

The buyer paid.

The seller shipped.

Beyond that, if the package does not get to the destination, who's at fault?

YOU. For accepting "free shipping" as a guarantee you will receive.

There is not guarantee if the package can not be logged into the system.

Once it reaches customs...POOF

Research educates the un-educated. Cover your a$$etts. Pay for tracking.

Not really. At least in the USA.
Most credit card companies (including PayPal) don’t see it like that. If you ship something without tracking, then you cannot prove you ever shipped it.
“Saying” you shipped something is not good enough.
Buyer can say they never received it and 9 times out of 10, the buyer will get his or her money back.
Tracking protects the seller, not the buyer. Unless you paid cash or MO……in which case you’re screwed.

Exactly correct. It’s the seller’s responsibility to safely deliver the package. “Customer didn’t pay for tracking number” is no excuse. Many chinese sellers don’t build in the cost of a tracking number so their product appears cheaper than another chinese seller. Companies like Jaxman don’t give you a choice. You pay the shipping cost (which includes tracking), or you don’t buy it.

+1 If tracking is available for only slight bit more I think its worth it. I agree it would be nice if delivery was guaranteed regardless of how items were shipped, but when its my money on the line I would really rather just take a little extra precaution to avoid problems.

On a side note about US postal service theft. I had a package worth just under a thousand dollars shipped in the us priority mail. The box was opened, the contents removed and replaced with about a bottle of sun tan lotion. It was shipped from a company that I have worked with for years, that sells one product exclusively so I doubt it was a switch or mistake on their end.

I’m not saying this was a post office theft, (at the time I figured they had several broke open packages and just refilled each with what ever was available).

For my 900+ dollar package the post office paid me $50. When I contacted the distributor about it they were as baffled as I was, and assured me that is not what they shipped. They did offer me $350 worth of product so that I could at least ship product to the customers who were already paid and waiting on it. I thought that was reasonable of them since all they had to go on that it was lost was my word.

EDIT: Still not saying for sure this was a theft, but just now I read that article and I see my package was shipped from within about 14 miles of one of the locations mentioned there :confounded: Thank you to the FBI for getting these crooks off the street :+1:

I think much has improved regarding buying from China.
I gave up the hobby for some 2 years because too many things didn’t arrive or were not as described.
Since i’m back in LED land everything has arrived, items are as described or i was refunded.
I guess it has to do with Paypal buyer protection, but also (perhaps even more) because the sellers need a decent reputation to be successful at persuading buyers to buy again.
