As it turned out the warm front pushed 20 miles further inland than expected. Therefore, Philadelphia[I heard the same for NY and Boston] and some of its suburbs got a lot less snow and more Ice/sleet.
I live 30 miles NW of Philly. They predicted anywhere from 12â to 18â. We got ~ 5â of snow and 2â of sleet which made the roads worse!
As the gentleman-âTurningbluechipsâ from the Poconos[Pa Mts.] said, they got 24â. The inland track obviously did NOT affect their accumulation!
P.S. WPVI local Philadelphia weather/news station got RIPPED by people on Facebook!!! lol! WRONG AGAIN!
Downtown Stittville, New York got a full 36â by my measurement.
All cleaned up this morning by Snow Blowing from 8 until
That did include shoveling the front a rear roofs and digging out Mail Boxâs out of the snow bank and driving 2 metal posts into the ground and remounting the boxâs
Roads are wet but back to black not the slush or snow covering.
Off to Florida next Tuesday and out of the Winter weather
Yep, about the same here. :person_facepalming:
As well as the bread isles & milk coolers at all the grocery stores are totally bare at even the threat of snow. It is downright hilariousâŚâŚ
yeah, same here with the âmagic tractionâ peopleâŚ
65 in a 35 zone⌠cigarette in one hand, coffee in the other⌠talking to passengers and yelling at kids, all while âbluetoothingâ on wireless cell phone⌠on I-C-E around a turn. steering with their KNEESâŚ
you say âanythingâ you getâŚ
âoh, i have happy traction, dude, its all good!â
==
i inherited my dads Bravada, its basically a BLAZER. it has âmagic tractionâ or whatever⌠just does 4 wheel drive on and off by itselfâŚ
but, i have NOTICED? i cant âbrakeâ and âturnâ like my cars i am used to⌠its, like, driving an elephant around, it feels like.
i dont like to drive it fast even in good weather⌠i know i cant make it do âcartwheelsâ and control a high speed skid like a regular car i can do it with in a sudden emergency.
i am suddenly⌠âdriving like an old manâ, ha ha.
Man, thereâs one car commercial that just plain pisses me off every time I see it. Some pretty-boyâs in the car, starts daydreaming, âGee, I wonder if I left my curling-iron onâŚâ, and BEEPBEEPBEEP!, lane-departure warning. âWhew⌠that was close!â. âWonder if I plucked my eyebrows today⌠BEEPBEEPBEEP⌠SCREECH!!!, the car hits the brakes to avoid hitting the car thatâs stopped in front of him. âWhew! That was close, too!â. And so on, and so on, and so on.
These cars are now made for idiots, literally pandering to the lowest common denominator, to let idiots BE idiots behind the wheel, not pay attention, not care about anything, because the car will protect these idiots from themselves.
Like I said, it just plain pisses me offâŚ
Naw, you just donât outdrive the carâŚ
Loved my â86 Cavalier hatch. Z24 wheels from an â88, slightly lowered, KYB struts, always whatever Eagles the cops would run. Car rode like it was on rails. Oh, it was a kidneybuster with the stiff suspension, but damn, that car would go wherever youâd point it, no questions asked. It was a true roadsterâŚ
Just the slightest hint of oversteer, so youâd have to watch to make sure the ass-end of the car wouldnât swing out from under you, and thatâd only happen in really slick weather like first-rain.
Had that car 20-something years, too. Def got my moneyâs worth, several times over.
And it had nothing in it. No ABS, no traction control, no⌠nothing. Yet I could plow through snow and put the car where I wanted it to go, I was that familiar with it.
But, you learn. You make your mistakes, and hopefully learn from them.
are you telling me its i-m-p-o-s-s-i-b-l-e for that smart car to just LOCK UP and SKID TO A STOP if it malfunctions? and get me run over by a 18 wheeler because it DECIDED to fail getting on a big highway??
I did electronics for years when younger⌠do not tell me about redundant whatever⌠if the space shuttle can blow up? that CAR can lock up and get me clobbered by a cement truck.
and anytime a person explains how âimpossibleâ catastrophic fail;ure IS, because of how its designed?
just say âtitanicâ and walk away from themâŚlol
