Test/review of GIF TR16340 2500mAh (Yellow)

GIF TR16340 2500mAh (Yellow)

Official specifications:

  • Model: 16340

  • Capacity: 2500mAh

  • Voltage: 3.7V

  • Chemistry: Li-ion

  • Color: Yellow, Red

  • Size: 32mm(Length) x 16mm(Dia.)

A small battery rated at the same capacity as much larger batteries, this can only be a fake rating.

The battery can deliver 300mAh as long as the load is below 1A, this is not very impressive. AT low load they are surprising well matched, probably because they are manufactured with this capacity.

And it do not has enough energy to get really warm.

Conclusion

These cells may be cheap, but compare to what you get they are way to expensive. Any decent cell will have about double capacity and handle higher load much better.
I will rate them as bad

Thanks for the test! Good to see which are the bad ones!

Because I am fairly low on good batteries I will publish more bad battery reviews in the near future. There will also be reviews of some very good batteries (At least I expect they will be).

I don’t think we need to test this battery to know they are bad, noway can 16340 cell has same capacity of 18650

For me the question is not if it has the 2500mAh, but if it anywhere near a decent 16340 LiIon battery. The result did not surprise me, batteries with super high specifications are usual bad batteries.

I do also like to include some of the “fake” batteries in my test, I believe it is a good idea to publish review of them. Not all people knows what is possible and what not.

Even the text on the wrapper is bad quality:
Low reoccurring operation cist
Sheif-lief
Envirommental friendly
Protestion Circuit

Maybe the 2500 is also just a typo :stuck_out_tongue:

Not a typo, but a way to get ignorant people (Probably more than 95% of the population) to buy them. If you read the text closely they also promise over charge and discharge protection, i.e. a circuit board, but it is also missing.
