Maglite 3D XP-E LED can THROW!

First of all this is not an attempt to review..(I'm horrible at it). But my thoughts and what my eyes can see.

As many of you know, Lowe's hardware had a great deal on black Friday. I picked up two and gifted one for my Dad.

Maglite claims 364m throw distance, I don't doubt that one bit! Comparing it with my throwers ( TK41, STL-V2, TK35 and TF X9) Obviously the Maglite is not close in brightness, Maglite did a great job on there focusing reflector, once all the way focused it creates a bright , tight beam ( Almost laser like). 131 lumen focused into a tight beam is freakishly bright! It looks like Maglite is headed in the right direction in regards to LED advancements. They are still very behind from the competition. They are now using, what seems to be a Cree XP-E LED . You can tell the difference by looking at the emitter it will have "484" labeled.

And finally a size comparison for those who live under a rock and never seen a maglite. LOL

Yep. The Rebel LED MAG about equals the 164-lumen 6D Krypton in output. Looks somewhat brighter even. And due to the deeper reflector and tiny emitter, has a wicked tight beam. Has a bright purplish-white color. Honestly, I'm not sure I would expect a light to throw further unless it was a laser pointer.

I just wish they had this as a ready dropin for our oldies, but you can't get it that way. This should easily meet or beat the Terralux in output.

Nice beamshots Garry! This is my first LED Mag and i was truly surprise with its performance. I have two old 3D mags , looking to mod but unfortunately i have no modding skills..lol

I also got one thanks to Wayne's great offer, sending them internationally. My 3D also throws really far. I measured 280m on Yandex Maps at the farthest target I could find. It could go beyond this easily.

I used a Mag 2d led for the first time lastnight and all i can say is wow!!!! Being still new to the addiction I love the sk68 clone on 14500 flames. This is the only thrower that i have until i used the 2D Mag lastnight and i loved the tight throw of the beam. What other lights have a beam like that but maybe brighter? Budget friendly of course $)
