Looking for a general-purpose 1x26650 light

So far I like the styling and side switch of the SD26, but I’m having a hard time ignoring the $20 price tag of the EE X7. Current coupon price (through the deals subforum) of the SD26 is about $36 - could almost get two EE X7 for that price. Convoy BD06 also about $20 current sale price, hmm…

Turning the tables on me?… I was spending your money and now your spending mine.
Where?
No, don’t tell me. I was a BAD Boy this weekend and spent too much.
OK, I looked on GB and BG, no $20 BD06. Help…
Yeah I know side SW… but if it’s a real clicky I would. E-SW is a no.

And yes the end price on my X7’s was about $18ea w/ GB17LED

Well I could have sworn I saw $20.xx, but the best I see now is $22.99, eh…

Code GB3RDn9 on gearbest.

Edit: doesn’t Simon give decent BLF discounts, like 10 or 15? BD06 is regular price $25.36 at his store on AE. 15 off of $25.36 is $21.56. Maybe $23 isn’t that great really. Although I did just learn that the BDo6 has USB charging available through what appears to be a magnetic/snap on adapter.

Don’t know if this fits the bill but Foursevens has a sale on the Maelstrom MMU-X3…

47’s Maelstrom MMU-X3 Clearance

Only 2 modes but the 200 might be about right for walking the dog and you still have the higher output capability if needed.

Been looking and the BD06 is a real clicky.
Read some mod potential, stacking 7135’s and jumpering 2 legs on tiny13A to block the blinky modes.

Simon is 15% if you ask him. Need to make the purchase on Ali but Do Not Pay. That generates an order number. Now ask for the discount and he will then adjust the order total.
But if I go through Simon there will be MORE than just the BD06 in the cart. And I seriously need to not go there. $95 of stuff has been in my cart since before the Holiday when he closed. Thankfully he has not yet relisted several of the items I am wanting.
He also changed up most of the items to be epacket delivery so cost went up significantly on the accessory parts.

Don’t think the BD series get discounted, not developed by Simon/Convoy sourced outside so no discount from him
Love the charging and connection for it, gave a BD01 to neighbors for its safe easy and good.

SD26 is the way to go, at $32 wouldn’t call it pricey

BD06 is just too big to be considered as “general purpose”

I have wanted a 26650 light for a while. Lots of budget options for sure.

Thanks for starting this thread SAC.

Bob

Do you have a link/code/source for $32 price?

edit: the BD06 charger that snaps onto the switch seems pretty cool. but the more I think about it, I realize - proprietary chargers are no good. It probably works well and would be a novelty, but I think if the light is designed to be a rechargable, it’s better to just stick with the standard micro USB. That way I can recharge it anywhere, without having to keep track of the special adapter.

You can ask some users in this forum for a code for a better price

M4DM4X has a discount code that takes about $5 off the BangGood regular price.

I really like my BD06 as a general purpose light since I have defeated the blinky modes with a solder bridge. Now it’s just Low Mid High without the strobe or SOS modes. Not the brightest light in the realm of 26650, but good output (they say 1000 lumen, I think a bit less) and a nice beam.

I don’t feel it’s big at all, unless compared to 18650 lights. Definitely not pants pocketable - but works in a jacket pocket nicely for me.

EDIT: as for the charging - a “dongle” (for lack of a better description) clicks over the side clicky button, then uses a USB cable to charge. The side button CAN be clicked with the dongle in place - I have been leaving it attached to the light on the shelf, and remove it when I take the light out. If the dongle is misplaced or left behind, of course the battery can be charged externally just like with most of my other lights. The supposed advantage of the dongle over the switch is a bit more closed seal than you’d get with the USB port under a rubber plug - Convoy says IPX-8. I have not intentionally exposed mine to weather/water/dust to find out, though….

I really think it’s a nice size to hold in hand and use, too, especially with the side clicky.

my 2 cents…

Ultrafire F13 original for $<13 might be a great starting point…

Easy, the DV-S9. Magnetic slider, moonlight to turbo, waterproof, 10mA parasitic drain but easy tailcap lockout.

Looove that critter.

Oh yeh, ~17bux at FT, but ~15bux and change with blf code.

Can’t go wrong.

Yeh, just got a few buck drivers for the beastie. Needs 22mm drivers, not 20mm.

I’d love it more if it weren’t blue… with a red bezel… :confounded:

Dang, I didn’t know FastTech did BLF discount! Is it just “BLF”? I just placed a $40 a few days ago…

Actually, it’s not that medium-blue like in the pix, but a really nice deep indigo. The red adds a splash of contrasting color, methinks.

And yeah, “BLF” still works.

Ah to clarify,
The BD series snap on is very clever for it does not hinder the use if the button and has a micro USB port
One can just leave it on when not charging it is holding in pretty good

Another vote for the UltraFire F-13.
Reasonable quality for just $13, easily modable & cheap enough not to worry if anything goes wrong.
A good light to begin modding with & the light recommended to myself & many others as a starting point down the slippery slope

$45 with coupon code.

I was considering putting the guts of my DQG in that housing, but maybe I should build a new triple xml2 or xpl and leave the DQG as is. It’s too tiny! Lol

Let me know if you build it.

i dont think you said “reflector only, no zoomies” so…

i bought a “x700” light, just to say i had one? got mine form GB ’cos i had “some points” that would expire, and the light was on sale to boot… i think for under 10 bux, i got a 2 bay charger, 2 cheepie 18650s (for use in junk lights), and the light itself.

i actually like it, and its something of a goto light.

mine is the 1x26650 version… which i like. the driver ended up getting swapped out. i have several 1504’s from the n10siverrn group buy… had a replaced driver laying around, put it in the light i am describing here.

on low, its still more than useful at close range, and will run forever it seems like what with the 26650 battery.

cant wait to replace the lettuce-bright emitter with something better and complete the light’s transformation…
