Review: Convoy C8 XM-L U2 1B 1x18650 8x7135 Flashlight

0 means cold and then it goes to warm from there. Just search for “Kelvin tint”. I think that cold is better for outside use and would definitely take the 1A.

and SMO means smooth reflector is SMO better for distance?

what is the better driver 7135*8 or 7135*6?

so you think I should get Convoy C8 AK47 7135*8 XML2 U2-1A SMO for him?

Yes smo means banana peel and the 7135 gives around 350ma each so the more the merrier.

get the 7135 x 10 version, it’s even better :stuck_out_tongue:

Hey they don’t even stock those!! I would have gotten the 7135*10 if someone sold them

Those will be available again in a week or three from a most reliable source — not just at the moment, but when MtnElectronics comes back up to speed after the current round of website improvements and preoccupation with diaper-and-feeding management

Increase/Reduce Driver Current 7135 (pick what you want)

EDIT
and “SMO” generally means SMOOTH — shows and magnifies every little variation in the illumination, so you see rings and such — a rough uneven result
the opposite of “orange peel” (or “golf ball”) roughness that averages out the light giving a, er, smoother result. Kind of paradoxical, that.

If I get the c8 extension tube will I fry my driver AK47 7135*8?

Only if you put batteries in your extended flashlight and try to power it ON.

OK I believe my driver is a NANJG 105D
I see spec says
Input Voltage DC 3.0V~4.5V -volt
So I guess that’s a no :frowning:

Can anyone recommend a driver for 2x18650?

Currently there is no nice programmable 2x18650 driver, if you are in the states you could see what MTN has to offer, maybe zener modded nanjg 105c or if you are ok with soldering iron you could do that by yourself…

Hi Guys

I want your assistance
Got a flashlight

Thanks.

Hello everyone! I was just wondering if it’s possible to make the entire head out of copper for a convoy c8 v2, this new version doesn’t have a pill.
Cost vs benefit? Thanks!

Can’t say for certain yet but it appears that the new Thorfire C8’s have the 2nd version pill that the Convoy C8’s had before going to a solid shelf. (I make a copper version of that pill) An entirely copper head would be pretty expensive for sure. It would require a 1.75” diameter x 2.25” long piece of copper bar and a significant amount of machining time, but sure, it’s definitely possible.

Hey Hoop thanks for responding, how much would the whole head cost? Im aware of the new thorfire with the removable pill but im not sure i want another c8 (got 4 right now). But let’s assume i get the new c8, how much would the copper pill cost?

It would be maybe a $10 piece of copper, and a typical machine shop would charge several hundred bucks to do one of them, probably. (I don’t want to make one lol)

Yup, i figured the actual labor would be the most expensive.
Thanks Hoop!

How much actual lumens does this light put out? i doubt its close to 1000 or?

If you’re talking about the Convoy C8, it’s rated at 960lm

I have one and can verify it’s definitely in the 1000lm ball park.

Why do you doubt it? Around 1000 is very typical output from the 8x7135 driver.

well its kinda cheap i thought it wasnt that bright guess i was wrong then.
