The difference between XP-L HI and XM-L2 is predominantly the absence of a dome in the XP-L HI variant. The “HI” stands for “High Intensity”. This means that the lux value (=throw) is much higher than the non HI variant, including the XM-L2. So the total amount of light (lumens) is about the same, but the hotspot is smaller/tighter and brighter. The link is a comparison between the Thrunite TN4A and Thrunite TN4A HI: the first uses XP-L (HD), and the latter XP-L HI. You get a good impression what the difference is (XP-L HD is about the same as XM-L2)
