Sorry all, I know it’s been a long delay but such delays are part of being informed long before these things are even approved. I’ve spoken with Simon several times in just the last few days about the C8 SuperBezel. A small order is being placed for around 100 of these to be produced in the newly proposed design. I can’t make any promises on price. Convoy is a small business with slim profit margins so I will not ask Simon to sell these for any less than the price he sets. He is always very fair on his pricing though, as most if not all here would agree. Small runs of specialty items like this cost far more than runs with quantities in the thousands. If these come out the way we want and sell well, I imagine that we may be able to arrange a better price in the future.
Keep this in mind though…We are not just his first potential customers for a new product here. This is a product being produced specifically for us. I talked him into this on behalf of BLF when he didn’t even want to mess with stainless bezels because of high production cost and the fact that there has been no profit for stainless bezels in the past. Don’t get me wrong. I’m all about a deal too, but let’s just see how this first batch goes and take it from there.
6 dollars sounds extremely reasonable to me. Heck, if it were Nitecore, it would be 25. I think that brushed finish looks good with mat black as well. May even blast one with aluminum oxide to match the mat texture of the black.
Thanks Robert. Keep in mind on the “brushed” finish, I don’t know exactly how the end product will look. The picture I posted is not really a picture, just a very nicely done rendering by a friend. My guess is the end result will be a more “machined” look than a brushed look like the first Stainless samples he did. This one of course will just be way cooler looking than round one. If you end up tinkering with the finish by all means buddy post pictures. I don’t know exactly how long it will be before they’re available but I’m very excited to see how these come out. :sunglasses:
Oh and if small numbers are an issue, Simon could just make it the default, setting his C8 apart from the rest, more his own with that different design.
We think alike here my friend. I recommended Simon take the new bezel style across the board for the same reason. Too many lookalike yet not necessarily equal C8 lights out there. Something to visually set Convoy apart is the way I want to go. We shall see…
Well if you go for a “L style” light that is compatible with all inner parts and accessories of the C8 Simon would get a C8 sized, same output light of course.
But in case of a smaller L light, please use this C8 bezel and update the L2 and L6 so they lose the ring of bulges on the top for those take away a lot of the visual appeal of them, add weight and machining for no clear advantage.
It would make the L series more classy and appealing to more IMHO.
Your opinion is noted but there is no plan to change the L2 and L6 design. I also wholeheartedly disagree with your opinion.
Personally I like the looks of the L2 and L6 a lot. I consider them among the most visually appealing in my collection.
The new bezel does look sweet on the C8 though! :money_mouth_face:

Please forgive me if this has been asked before but do the old and new C8 bezels swap? I have one with the removable pill which legoes the tubes with an equally old M1, the only difference being the M1 tube has a brass insert where the C8 tube was reamed to fit past the aluminum driver retaining cap.
