Shipping Delays

Good grief! That's mighty expensive. Sorry to hear that.

in 2011 all national postal services of all european union countrys must be "privatizados" and a 3rd party company will steal us 17 euro for each product you try to import, no matter its cost.

That is very interesting. Because Slovenia is also in EU, but I heard nothing about such a stupid law. Cmon 17€ - that would be the end of our cheap deals from china... I can understand EU is trying to somehow limit import from China to promote domestic local product, but this is just ridicioulous...

No, no, excuse me, I am spanish and explaining this in English is very difficult.

The european law that I am talking about began to apply on 3rd March 2010, BUT it says that as 1st of January 2011 all postal services must be "privatized". So the timelapse from 3rd march 2010 to 1st January 2011 is to allow the system to "adapt" to the new laws.... In fact this stupid law had to be applied from 3rd march 2010.

AND due to that adaption timelapse, it has occurred that in some Countries in the EU there have been troubles with customs, and in another Countries not. EVEN inside a Country, in some parts of the country is being applied this law "as is" and in other parts of the same country nothing has changed............

So depending on your Country, from 1st January 2011 could happen 2 things:

1) That the law is applied to all its consecuences

2) Nothing will happen. All will be the same as is happening from 3rd march 2010.

And the 17 euro "impuesto revolucionario" depends on your Country. Here in Spain is 17 euro, but I dont know other countries.....

Are there any english sources on this? I thought the reform was to push for end of monopolies on mail service (ie gov only).

Also, does this mean the end of fotolinternas? :)

Sorry I have not source in English, but Spanish instead http://www.forocoches.com/foro/showthread.php?t=1621979 you can try google translate

Of course not! The percentage of detainees packages is so low that it is still worth the risk.

In addition the new law eliminates the regional customs and centralize everything in the capital of Spain.
They Never have had a lot of attention with shipments from China. If not so soon they have no place to put all the DX packages. lol

I don't understand yet, is this random "al asar" inspection and taxation, or will every package be charged the €17 aduanas tax?

Teoretically ALL packages should be taxed, but do you imagine the amount of packages from china? It will be impossible, so they will get attention to the bigger packages or the ones with a high declared value.

I see my tracked stuff has now left Hong Kong - with any luck it will get here this week. I have one from DX, 1 from Lightake and 3 from Manafont.

I've been suffering from lack of new lights :(

I've not heard how the EU regulations will effect the post here. The Royal Mail certainly hasn't said anything about it.

So I had a look on their website and found this:

All mail that enter the United Kingdom may be examined by customs, but normally letters, postcards and packets containing only documents or similar forms of correspondence are excluded.

If you are receiving a package from overseas (unless it’s from another EU Country), please be aware that it may incur customs charges. Any package assessed by HM Revenue and customs as being liable for customs charges will also incur a Royal Mail handling fee of £8.

Any goods imported into the UK over the value of £18 are liable to import VAT. Gifts between private individuals over the value of £40 are also liable for VAT. Goods and gifts over these values may also be liable for customs duty. You no longer have to pay customs duty for goods up to the value of £135, however you will still be required to pay import VAT and excise duty where applicable.

Please note that these limits do not apply to alcohol and tobacco goods where both excise duty and import VAT may be charged. It is not permitted to send alcohol and tobacco products into the UK from another EU country unless prior arrangements have been made to account for the excise duty.

For more details please read the Royal Mail guide to receiving goods from overseas. You can also check the HM Revenue & Customs guide to Shopping (new window) on the Internet.

That´s it!

Is an European law

An order from Lightake, ordered on 13th, shipped on 14th has arrived (at the Post Office) today. It'll be in my hands tomorrow morning - fortunately the post office is between where I live and where I work so my Mrlite will finally make it into my hands - three weeks from when I ordered it. Oddly, the DX order that left Hong Kong the day before has not yet arrived. Hopefully the Manafont BLF one (dispatched on October 25th) won't be far behind so I can compare the two.

OH MY GOD!

You receive orders shipped on 14 October and I dont receive 3 orders shipped on 21 and 23 SEPTEMBER!!!!!! also some orders shipped from early october hasnt arrived!!!!!!!!! This is ridiculous!!!!!!!!! Almost 2 months from shippment date and nothing!!!!!

However, small and light items shipped on mid-october have arrived. I dont understand the way of work of HKP!!!!!!!!!

It probably makes a big difference that HK was a British colony until 1997 and I suspect a lot of the mail to Europe from HK ends up passing through the UK. It is going to take at least a couple of days more from the UK to Spain.

At least I'd assume that traditional links would only be changed if there were a good reason to do so.

But then I know nothing at all about how mail is routed so this is just guessing.

Don't worry fran. Your not the only one.

Maybe this will confort you a bit. All my orders from LT have been already shipped from 5 to 10 days ago. Well, not a single one have left HK yet (at least for tracked ones). Not to mention that order date was around 15 days ago for some.

Sorry, thanks for your support, but that not confort me.

I have a tracked item with shippment date of 20 Oct, which had been as "item xxx is being proccessed to delivery to addresese" from 20 to 31 october. Now shows "item was posted on 20 Oct". Simple as that..... and no clues of when is going to leave HK. And the item was waiting for supplier almost a month........... I beleive is next to waste the 45 days paypal user protection........

I have 3 items from 3 different sellers shipped on 3th, 4th and 10th of October, still waiting.

A driver shipped on the 8th I have received.

OK your shipped orders are from early october. I am talking about orders shipped on 21 and 23 september.......

This one left DX 10-10 and was finally leaving HK the 10-23. But I still didn't get the 801 from ebay, some old orders from KD, DX, BC and the BLFs from Manafont.
