Home Depot Deal Alerts & Discussion Thread

I had some extra time and was passing one of my local Home Depots the other day and scored four of the Milwaukee twin pack screwdrivers. I saw them on a hanger with a slash of yellow tape through the regular price. I got some a while ago at the 3 price at my work HD, but the two stores do not seem to follow the same schedule. (They still have Energizer Weather Ready lanterns at full price here (I checked) I cleaned out my work HD months ago.) So I took one to the self price check, and had to keep myself from running back to the display. I grabbed all four, rang them up, paying cash, and took them out to my car. Then came back in and paid special attention to the other items with a yellow slash through the prices - NONE of which price checked to a lower price.

Let’s see if I can get this cursed picture posting to work:

The yellow slash I believe means that they have been inventoried. I see that yellow tape on items that are not in their usual or proper location.
Consider yourself lucky on that find, they must have been at the 3 or 2 price when they were inventoried and pennied out just recently.

I was definitely not as fortunate as you. I had to pay the 4 price, $7.54 for each of the 4 I got. I never saw one even at the 2 price! A friend that just loves anything Milwaukee asked me to pick them up as his HD didn’t even have the twin packs.

BTW, this same screw driver sold singly is $7.97 in some stores and $9.97 on others.

I took my second crack at the Spartanburg store over by Star lanes, I found every bag but the 10 inch, I fianlly got tired of looking and just walked up and asked somebody if they were sold out. She looked it up and it seems that store never carried the 10in, so struck out there.

I am nowhere near to being finished. I am going to try to get over to both Spartanburg stores enough to be on top of these things...

The stores are huge and my wife still does not quite understand what to look for. No plans of giving up though...

When I read that, I doubted it very much. So I checked.

Just as an example of how powerful search can be with the tools we have available, and how a little bit of effort can bring results, I decided to call that store and ask myself.
BUT, there are 2 Home Depots in Spartanburg, SC :stuck_out_tongue:
You mentioned that it was the one “over by Star Lanes. So I ran Google Earth and with my ”3DConnexion SpaceNavigator”:http://www.3dconnexion.com/products/spacemouse/spacenavigator.html contoller flew on over to the HD at 2300 East Main. As I was “flying” around, I could see Star Lanes across the street, so the East Spartanburg store is the one you meant. Then I got the phone number from HomeDepot.com and called the service desk. I asked them to check an item for stock.
Then I explained that the item is on clearance and it will not show up on the website, you need to use the store inventory system.
Had I not mentioned that, he might have merely looked on HomeDepot.com. Clearance items do not show up on the web site
Anyway, after I gave him the item #, 1001-397-206 he said that should be in Hardware, but then added, we have no stock. :frowning:

But part of the reason for this call was to check and see if what the girl earlier said to you was true, “that store never carried the 10in”

I went one step further and asked him when was the last one was sold?
After a few seconds he answered, February 19th.
So, that store DID have them, they just sold out very early on! Why?, who knows.

That’s right, don’t give up

No worries... one of the 2 stores I have a good layout of. I also noticed who was paying attention to me as well as who was happy to check an item to see if it was in stock. Now it's time to let them get comfortable seeing me. Normally I just go to lowes here in town or Ace hardware. Now I'm going to just make that short trip. If they are like the emplyees at my local lowes they will soon not even pay attention to me unless I ask lol. They guys at lowes here in town have learned the more I'm left alone the more I seem to buy lol.

I was in a HUGE hurry when I answered you last post... My fie and I are starting an Amazon store and have almost no time to slow down, I want to have it running full bore in about 4 weeks. Wholesalers are being a pain and so far only 1 flashlight company is willing to be decent.

My point is I did not take time to thank you fort taking time and helping me out. I appreciate that very much no matter what the reason.

Anytime I get luck enough to find a deal like the one of those tool bags, they will go to our store and priced at a fair price. Of course there is no way I can find enough to stay in business, but deals like that I can make a decent profit and pass a very fair price on to someone else.

I will be watching those 2 stores constantly now.

Thank you very much for your help.

Terry

I hate it when this thread goes quiet!

I take it that was a penny?

The other day I went in to get some water and found the gal changing the prices in stationary. EVERYTHING was going to the 3 price. On the flat bed is 3 cases of 8 1/2 by 11 copy paper, 92 brightness for $8.33 per 10 ream case. There were 5 loose ones in the 4th box, so I got those for 83 cents per ream. Also the legal size paper was $1.63 per ream. (500 sheats)

Almost every trip to a Home Depot yields something for a penny. Every one of these pictures contain at least 1 penny item.

Sometimes they are not out in the open. These 2 sets of 4 tiedown straps were buried on the bottom shelf of a clearance rack. And they were dirty!

AND, I found 3 more of the 10” bags!
I thought for sure they would be a penny by now, but they rang up for $1.32
On the top shelf

BTW, the 12” bag with free plastic container is just going on clearance too.

I was in MA today. They have those up there, BUT

My first penny deal! Almost…

So I went to get a new AC and stopped by clearance. They had more spark plugs so I grabbed a few for my weed whacker. Normally I self checkout… But because I had the AC I went to a register. Of coarse they rang up a penny and the cashier heart attack about it. It’s a nice sunny day so the line was huge. I asked her to ring them up at the sticker price so the people behind me didn’t kill me for arguing over a dollar.

It’s a moral victory as far as I’m concerned. I found my first penny locally.

Found the non-handheld version of that showerhead at my local HD last week. Was a little sad that I wasn’t initiated into the penny deal club, but $7.53 is a lot cheaper than what showerheads normally go for ($12 for a cheap one, $20-25 for a decent one).

We were in New Jersey for a short vacation this week and I was allowed to check out some Home Depots :stuck_out_tongue:
That shower head that had been $12.03 at other stores rang up in this store for $10.03. Even though the sticker was for $37.

I was finally able to find a couple of the Bosch laser measure for a penny that didn’t have a security tag on it.
Here is a whole stack of the 20X ones and I am verifying that everyone in the stack is a 20X. I am looking for the 10X because that is the one that rings up for a penny.

There!
Way in the back there were 2.

And the result of my efforts.

Got these for a penny

Can’t see it all here, but I got some florescent fixtures, ClosetMaid cubes, 3 pair of Napa leather work gloves that went originally for 3 pair for $20. Also found a 1540 Lumen Cree Spot light, some LED wrist wraps.

I also saw some good deals at the 3 price. Like this adjustable wrench and plier combo for $2.03

While I was in one store in NJ paying my Home Depot CC bill, a guy came up to returns to get a refund on a bluetooth shower speaker he bought for a gift. He didn’t have a receipt, so all they could offer him was a gift card for to lowest clearance price. It was $2.53. He refused that and said he might as well keep it.
Today when I was back home I checked out the local store and saw this.

When they go to $2.53 I’ll get a couple.
Also while in New Jersey I was seeing this 432 piece tool set for $300.06. It was originally $399.99. By the date of 02/08/2017 I would expect it to go to the 3 price of around $100.03 in about a week.

I checked my local store in CT and they are at the “00” price of $349.00
Tomorrow I leave for Ohio and I will be looking for the 3 price along the way.
Here is the Barcode and the item number

And finally here is a better copy of the barcode using the barcode generator from post 2076 of this thread

I walk thru HD stores way more often than I used to thanks to this thread. No great deals lately. Just a few drip line kits for $3.33 a few weeks ago. They were $20 new, I should have bought more than two…

Ironically the only penny deal I have managed was on accident about two years ago. Now I am on a hunt for more of them.

i went out to my local HD and found the terminal and did the search, couldn’t find the items on the shelves, probably sold out. i found a bunch of items on clearance tables at the 3 price with dates going back to 2016 in some cases. i hauled them up to SCO to test if they would go for 1¢, but no luck. i’m guessing that this store is one of those that doesn’t let anything go out the front for a penny.

And no luck with lithium in the recycling bin. And there were no 40V Ryobi packs for sale or listed on their price check app…? All the demo floor models had weak or no responding packs by the LED check button.

Sidebar

A friend of mine used to work for HD (as one of the locusts). In her experience the lack of penny deals in a given store relates more to the district manager (multiple stores in a given area) than the volume of business at a particular store. Some would throw a fit if a penny item went out the front door instead of out the back and into the crusher. Some wouldn’t, some of them were just as sickened by the waste as you might be.

The moral of the story being if you never see any penny deals at your favorite HD ask who the district manager is. Then if you get a chance to check out another store if it’s the same manager you’ll know not to spend much time looking. Unfortunately the location finder only gives the store manager not the DM.

grabbed some more lights and a wagner paint roller. also some area rugs but didnt take any pics.

I have been traveling since Sunday. One of the things I have been doing while traveling is checking out HD’s for deals and penny deals. Monday I got a text message from a friend asking about this 432 tool set he came across.

I told him what I told everyone reading this thread, if is tagged at $300.06 with a date of 02/08/2017 it should go to $100.03 any day now. In fact I had printed out the UPC code that I provided a few posts above and was carrying it with me to use at the price checkers while I traveled. I only saw it priced at $300.06 in NY, NJ while on a short vacation last week. This week all the stores I checked in NY, PA and OH had them still at $349.00, down from the original $399.00.
Today I got a text from another friend while he was standing in MY HOME TOWN Home Depot.

I quickly texted him back with the message Buy Them All!
There were 3, enough for 1 each for the 3 of us.
Here is a blow up of just what this set includes. It is Huskies biggest set.
Of note, it contains 5 ratchet wrenchs and 3 breaker bars. Also 3 sizes of swivel adapters and 2 sets of ratcheting box wrenches!

On my trip I DID find lots of penny deals, but this deal is the best.

That’s amazing—you nailed it exactly. i was expecting to see a new date, but the new price tag still has the old date 2/8/17. So long till it would go for a penny, if nobody were to buy them? My local store has that set “reduced” to $349.

In this case, $349.00 is the first step in the clearance process. Usually the first price reduction will end with a “0”. The percentage price drop is small and it can stay at that price point for an indefinite amount of time. The second price drop of $300.06, ends with a “6”, is 25% off and will last for about 6 weeks. The 3rd reduction will be about 75% off end with a “3” In this case $100.03. In about 3 weeks it will go to a penny and be pulled off the sheves.

Any store that currently has them at $349.00 will eventually go the $300.06, then $100.03. If they don’t sell through.
So you are at least 6 weeks away from the “3” price.

Here is a penny deal I found yesterday while in Ohio.
This store is always neat as a pin, partially because there are never any customers in it. I really wonder how they stay open. Very hard to find penny deals as they always right on top of everything.
Anyway, I walked the store and found a couple of mismarked clearance items, so there were a few chinks in their armour, meaning there was hope.
I also found a couple of items at the “3” price that I could use. As I was up at the self checkout with some “3” ittems, I spotted some CAT stuff from the back of the display next to the self checkout. That was surprising to me as the CAT stuff had gone on clearance months ago. So I went around to check out that display And this is what I saw.

All of the usual CAT and Black & Decker stuff that had already gone on clearance elsewhere at the “3” price, but here they were all at full list.
BUT, I noticed some thing else. Right in the middle is a “Battery Tender” Lithium Ion Boost Charger.
Those also went on clearance at the “3” price and were $79.97 when at full list. The price under it was $19.97.

They were NEVER at that price!
When I looked more closely I could see that the $19.97 was for a set of jumper cables, it was placed in the wrong spot.
When I looked elsewhere on this display for a $79.97 price tag, I saw none. I thought this could be a penny.
And it was.

Here are some other deals. When I heard that the 02/08/2017 date went from the “6” price to the “3” price I knew what to look for.
Here are items that just turned that day.

These screw drivers went for $2.53 CHINK!
