Mountain Electronics

Always heave got great service from him. Just recieved my new qlite driver from there today, ordered it on the 18th and it got here on the 20th.

I am very happy with them too as they took the time to patiently explain what I (noob) would have to buy for my purpose, not even trying to sell me the most expensive option. Great!

I decided to elaborate on this some more and get some clarity to my original post.

The shipping questions were a small part of this.

I ordered 4 X 30Q 18650. When I got them I could NOT get a reading w/ my DMM. This has never happened to me in my 6 years. I contacted HKJ. He told me there is a bad connection and that the batteries are probably tarnished. I said I can not see any tarnish and he said that it can not always be seen.

This can happen from the batteries sitting around too long and/or in a damp environment. More likely where they were manufactured.I am not blaming Richard for this and I never did. He started getting defensive and saying how his batteries are genuine and stored in the proper environment. That certainly may be true but he failed to take in account that there is possibility that some of them were not and it had may have nothing to do with him.

I told Richard what HKJ told me. I do not think he believed HKJ and certainly did not believe me.Richard said he did NOT trust my equipment! Is that customer service? Sounds confrontational and the opposite of customer service to me. At that point I knew I was never going to do business with him again. I told him I wanted to send them back.

Instead he did give me a refund and said he did not want the batteries back. He also BANNED me for life from ordering from him!!! lol! I had already made that decision.

I never got an opportunity to resolve this. After he banned me he said that ALL my emails to Mt. Electronics would go into spam! That’s customer service? That is how you resolve differences of opinion?

As it turns out HKJ was right and there was NOTHING wrong w/ my DMM!

HKJ suggested using a fiberglass pencil and gently cleaning both terminals. I did not have one but I used some sand paper/emery cloth and gently cleaned both terminals so I would not damage the wrapper. So after about 30 minutes of meticulous work I tested ALL FOUR batteries on DMM and I was now able to get a reading on all Four batteries!

All of this could have been avoided if he would have believed me. But he did not.

I do not doubt the positive experiences that others have posted on here.I also assure you that everything I said is the truth.

On the other hand, nothing is perfect, it is not what happens that is important it is how we REACT to what happens.

The people I have not gotten along with are always ones who are never wrong and their ego and pride prevents them from looking in the mirror and saying,“You know what, they may be right.” :sunglasses:

I have had nothing but fantastic experiences with Mountain Electronics and Richard (RMM) in general. How many orders have I placed? I don’t know because I have lost count. He puts in a ton of work and goes the extra mile all the time.

I have no problem at all giving him full support and I’m one of those guys who is very picky about their suppliers.

^He sure went the extra mile w/ me!!!

Here is the deal. I know I am in the minority and I am fine w/ that.

When it comes down to it, he is more established than me on here so I will not be surprised what may evolve out of all of this.

All I know is that was my experience and that is what I shared.

I have known and dealt with Richard since before he started his business. I’ve spent many hours on the phone with him, he’s helped me trouble shoot all sorts of my stupid issues. He’s always been very eager to help, even when it’s stuff I’ve had happen multiple times due to my forgetfulness. He and his wife both know me well and have always been patient and understanding, exceptional customer service on a Platinum level.

I once went through my orders file on his site and added up my purchases… well over $5000 from him! And very little issue at all, the couple of chargers that gave problems were immediately replaced. Other than that, just never an issue for me shopping at Mtn Electronics.

I’ve always known him to test everything he sends out. I don’t know if he still has the time to do that, but he sure used to! Great people, great shopping experiences, every time!

It occurs to me that your tone of voice describes exactly how you yourself are acting. It breathes “I’m right always”. Now since your experience seems to be a minority one as can be seen from other people’s experiences, you might want reflect on how all this came about.

I’m not criticising you, just asking you to reflect again on your own behaviour. And why your experience would be so much different from everybody else’s.

Really Dr. BAZZ??!! You can hear my tone of voice? I am NOT concerned about your opinion. I know what happened and whether you approve of it or believe it is irrelevant!

Quod Erat Demonstrandum :D.

And yes, you can call me Dr. I’m a qualified psychologist. Which doesn’t mean I’m right, but which might mean that you’ll have to think again. Anyway. You mistake me for someone who cares (The Dude in: The Big Lebowski).

Super service, shipping, products, prices…on and on. Can’t say more but very satisfied customer here!

Don’t hit me with them negative waves so early in the morning…

Richard is one thing, a genuine great guy!

One time doing this build and working with his newly developed 4S 2.5/3amp E-Switch Buck drivers for the XHP35 T90-2 Monster Big Beam Thrower,

I was up over 30 hours building, testing shaking them down and burning them up and myself!

Richard was there every step of the way. Sure it got frustrating going back and forth, PM’ing that day all night, into the morning and the next day, but in the end it was fun educational and I gained a deeper respect for the man and the T90-2 XHP35HI Big Beam Thrower powered by RMM is one of my most favorite builds and still works excellent to this day, it’s quite impressive!

I still have all those pictures and PM’s, it was a great experience, something I will never forget!!!

I still need to send those drivers back to him to check out and hopefully fix! :person_facepalming:

Thanks Richard for always being there, no matter how big, small or what!!

you talk way too much……

Mountain Electronics has always been and continues to be an awesome flashlight store. Rarely over the years have I had any issues, but when I did they corrected them. They are a legitimate store with great products and I highly recommend them.

Sometimes, no bad news from a store is the best kind of news about a store.

I’m sure more desirable motivation can be found in anything if you look hard enough.

Mountain Electronics is held near and dear to most folks on here. Typing them into the search bar on the upper left of any page here should reveal that.

Order away my friend. You won’t be disappointed.

There is only one store I feel zero hesitation buying from, and that’s MTN.

MTN is a great resource for us, always fast shipping and honest transactions for me over the years. And good prices.

Only problem is, Richard stopped selling Hanks lights, actually stopped selling all flashlights.

MTN is great and I have never had any issues with any orders. They are a great resource.

Yes, they’re only selling flashlight modding items. My guess is that they didn’t want to deal with issues regarding new flashlights that were out of their control, or maybe because it wasn’t profitable anymore.
