Test/review of GTL LS18650 10000mAh (White)

GTL LS18650 10000mAh (White)

Official specifications:

  • 10000mAh 3.7V 18650 rechargeable Battery

  • No memory effect, recharge up to 1000 cycles

  • 100% quality Japanese battery cells

  • 100% Q.C. of every battery

  • Manufactured by Hi-Capacity power products.

  • Battery Dimension: 65mm(height) x 18mm (diameter)

A very high capacity cell according to specifications, but they are fake.

The cell can deliver up to about 2A and only have 500mAh in capacity, this is the same as many other of these fake cells.

As usual they do not have enough energy to get hot.

Conclusion

It looks like many of these “high capacity” cells are from the same factory and with the same actual specification (i.e. about 500mAh and max. 2A)

As usual my rating is bad cell.

HKJ,

Many Thanks for all your efforts in testing these appallingly bad batteries.

The last time I saw a graph like that was during a mains power cut!

Definitely be avoiding these LOL.

Cheers,

Another Classic

I find it disturbing how many ebay sellers are peddling these and more disturbing that ebay refuses to take any action against them.

You might think about creating a [Rogues Gallery] or [Fake 18650] or [Bad Batteries] section on your website so we can find the lot of them easily. Mostly we don’t need the info, but it’s great to be able to show it to people who don’t know.
Just had some friends back from a trip to China all excited about an LED + 2x18650 (6000mA) + charger they got. Light is standard cheap but OK fare. Cells were junk. Charger is probably functional but they’ve been advised to get an Xtar.

My article about that is half finished, I want to include a few sizes more before I publish it.
I hope that also novices in LiIon looks at my reviews, even though they are on the technical side.

Sound like the standard cheap low quality offer they bought: Cheap light, bad cells and dangerous charger.
You do not need to be in China to get these kind of offers.

Oh man. I wonder what is actually inside the battery. Maybe a 10150 cell? 500mAh, what was supposed to be 10000mAh. What a joke.

Thanks for the review HKJ!

It probably looks like this: Disassembly of UltraFire 9900mAh 18650 battery

I would expect that using a smaller cell inside is more expensive than manufacturing a cell.

That would be great! I would certainly point people there. I do that for your site all the time.

The couple work for the airlines so go to China frequently. They thought they were getting an even better deal buying there. You can actually get a better deal in US for a similar kit.

That was more of a joke. Pretty sad they sell these kind of batteries

Thanks HKJ for weeding out[even though the specs give it away!] these liars!

Lol!!! 20 times lower capacity than advertised!!!

Nice.

tekwyzrd, I see the same story in AliExpress with the Ultraturd/WTF cells. Heck, you can find raving reviews and people buying them in bulk LoL!

Better leave them to their philistinism. Each one awakens at their own pace.

Cheers

so im assuming these are not really made in japan.

+1

and knowing that most of this trash is dangerous, fails any safety certifications, complete false advertising,. (capacities) and ebay just ignores it.

Isn’t it better to try to prevent the grief?

Thanks for the review HKJ!

eBay really has no duty to stop sales of these cells. If the cell is faulty blame should fall on the seller not eBay it would be near impossible for eBay to police sales like this. Plus they still make money from sales of these cells. Automation is hard because if they filter out certain aspects it will effect actual lithium sales.

I am all for not selling these cells dont get me wrong but i think the regulation has to come from else where like government. (Which is a hole other story!!) Make the factories and seller accountable!

The makers of those products are doing fair and profitable business. They're selling inferior products with misleading labels. In addition to this, the energy density of those Ultraturd/WTF/PIG cells is so low that unless we were to reveal some sort of critical design and/or manufacturing failure, they can't overheat even if short-circuited; thus, they're much safer than branded cells in the hands of clueless morons. Even if relived after a lot of time at overdischarged condition, they may not contain enough “Explosivstoff” (LoL! ) substance as to become a threat.

Uninformed consumers may not be aware that much better products actually exist, or may not believe those other branded products are much better. To top it off, the performance of their sh1tey product may be satisfactory to them… I've witnessed this with my own eyes and ears.

The main problem is we're letting advertisements go rampage with everything, and as it is now such business is full of blatant lies nearly no matter where you look at; at the same time there have been cases of censored consumers in their attempts to review/expose actual data on low quality/counterfeit products. This, in part, may have to do with write-ups coming from enragened customers and full of profanities, mind you. Been there, done that.

Cheers ^:)
