With triple channel and the high lumens the chosen LEDs give it would run too hot to handle on turbo yet should be able to give nice output for a longer period on lower modes, its Narsil so a perfect brightness is easy to set
Just look at the sizes here:
Not a lot of room for cut outs for Fritz trits
The switch assembly will have a rubber dome beneath the metal switch to press to insure the best waterproofing. I see modders having a go at adapting that for a trit if they want to.
This project came along at just the right time. I have been pondering a triple and was either going with the Astrolux s41 or a Jaxman E2L, but this one with Narsil and the machinist’s touch looks to be an even better choice. I’m excited about this.
Yes Cawi, fully aware… I built the first X5 Quad at over 3000 lumens. (How do I know it was the first? Because it was done on a prototype. ) Also built the first Triple and Quad X6. Something about a small high powered light…
My MecArmy PT16 is making 3400 lumens as a quad. Ramping. Just Gotta Love It! lol
hmm, choice of LEDs is not planned, adds complexity.
But reflowing isn’t all that hard, I did it with a SRK on gas stove in a jiffy and would not call myself a real modder.
wow, a couple of hours in BLF 80 / TLF 83 total 163
that is really fast, I did expect this clean design and cool features like rear e switch to be recieved positive but this is gong really really hard. awesome!
djozz points at my initial thought, anyone realize how hot this will get and how fast it will do it? I’ll wager that on a good cell, in Turbo, you won’t be able to hold it in 20 seconds. (Thermal step down not inclusive, it won’t run long in Turbo in other words, not long at all)
The heat would be a “Plus Feature” during the winter in the North East……….

Looks great, would it be possible as an option to exclude mcpcb/emitters for $8-10 less? Perhaps for a limited first run batch since many of us on TLF/BLF are so particular with our choice of color temp/cri/output/etc..

I highly doubt that the LEDs and the mcpcb cost the manufacturer $8 – $10.

Do you have a preliminary weight of the light?
I’m in for one!!!
But why no XP-l!?
' Lumen est omen '
Hope is no option!
The XP-L doesn’t fit under unmodified Carclo triple optics.
