Since it is a hot light I will not wait till I have pics and such and just start a Work In Progress

Well some have maybe read that I had to pay ~$27 in taxes, fees and administration before I could even receive the parcel. HaiKelite had written $25 on it. This is like $0.50 too uch for it to be received without paying this.
I think the normal price is somewhere in the $40-$50 range making is a gamble for people living in coutries with a hungry taxman how good of price this is, for EU one must expect
$40 is treated like €40
PLUS
€12 taxes VAT and fees
€12.50 administration
€2.50 VAT on administration
€27$30
making the HaiKelite MT01 XHP50 V2 a $70 light, but I hope they will write “value $20” but I asked this strongly and it was not done so EU citizens must be advised here.

So I wanted to get this out of the way.
Expect pics and beamshots to follow.

The HaiKelite MT01 XHP50 V2 comes in a plastic case with padding, a nice way of keeping the light and a big plus over the standard boxes.

Finish is nice, slightly grey color, even the not knurled parts feel grippy without any agressiv feeling places.

The stainless steel bezel and AR coated glass do a good job protecting the OP reflector with XHP50.2 LED nicely centered.

The electronic switch works tight.
click to turn on , click to turn off
click and hold to change modes, from low to high at highest it starts at low again.
There was no manual.
So I don’t know if there is a hidden moon, I could not find it, but the normal low is not too bright for doing things close by, yet it is too bright for using it in the night waking up though, trust me on this
I don’t know if there is a shortcut to highest mode, I could not find it, but there are not a lot of modes, so it is easy to get to highest mode.
I tried several click sequences and discovered the hidden blinkies, but no shortcuts to moon or highest mode, so I assume they are not there.

I LOVE this format, a small soda can light just loving the parallel cel setup and nice feeling in the hand.
The HaiKelite MT01 XHP50 V2 worsk with maximum of 3 cells.
So in hand feel it feels like the 4xAA lights like Thorfire TK4A, in output if does produce much more.
Long fat Panasonic protected cells fit, smaller cells fit nicely too.

The driver looks nicely made, a high brass ring for cell + to slide over, my GAs without button with slightly protruding + side work like a charm.

A real negative I encoutered was the light is creates.
It has some nice flood for sure, but a stock SRK clone has more flood.
Tt has some nice throw, though a sotk C8 with XML2 out throws it by far.
So comparing it to similar hand-feel light TK4A in CW yes we have a winner, the HaiKelite MT01 XHP50 V2 out-floods and out-throws the TK4A. At the cost of a lot more heat and a higher price but it will work longer for the higher capacity 18650s
(Sorry for doing a typical Dutch thing of sticking words behind each other, it is not the English way but helps in making points)

A major beef I have with th HaiKelite MT01 XHP50 V2 is with the tint.
The hotspot is cool white but the edges are greenish :frowning:
I hoped this was a wall hunting thing but outside on all things I shined this is easy to see.

When I get around to it I wil see how easy the driver and LED are reached to do modding and give measurements of critical parts.
Pics and such to follow.

So theres no manual included? looking forward to the conclusion of the review. Thanks.

Early complaints about the 50.2 is the tint shift from hot spot to spill

Looking forward for the rest of the review.
Haikelite! Dont screw people over and declare so much on the package! I’m pretty sure you break the law everyday by driving 1kmh/1mph over the speed limit.

No no they did not screw me over at all, it was just a bit nasty since we agreed I would buy one for review for $20,- and had they send the Paypal invoice I would have had proof and no laws were broken and a honest value of $20 could have been written on it.
This was a case of miscommunication for another department should have send the invoice and sure the BLF contact is not doing the shipping himself
So three departments working on one thing.

It gets a bit weird for the invoice in the box says $25, to be paid via DHL” in which case it is settled and Haikelight upped the agreed upon price with $7 from my perspective. Pmmed with Lee and he did not say anything about it so I think it is good now and well cone on for $27 this still is a very nice deal (though that LED has to go, maybe I stick a MTG2 in there that would be sweet.)

We see it more, remember Djozz getting a few Jaxman orders? He had to pay a lot extra too.
It is a tricky thing, laws are there and in the EU there is a pretty good reason for all the taxes. Yet personally I do not mbd asking for a label with $20 on it for VAT is Value Added Tax and there is no value added, the international agreements where all countries together decide what is fua amongst each other should suffice IMHO.
Hence I don’t feel bad about not paying VAT but well it can happen and if it does I accept it.

Ah I see now. Yeah I was thinking of djozz and Jaxman as well he even called them out (not in a malicious way) and they still messed again. I sent my new Blu-ray player and like 25 movies to my buddy in Greece, claimed $15 lol.

Can this light run continuously on high without getting too hot?

I got the MT07 from the review, just ordered the MT03 from BG. I like the looks of this one. The 3P boost gives you some options, but the OP reflector is a little restrictive for converting to a thrower.

Yes it gets hot but I have not let it run too long and could still comfortable hold it.

It behaves a little strange when the rube is not tightly screwed, press the switch and it flashes once. Firm tightening anf it works.

The tail has only a three pointed star like the Mercedes logo
In it one can attach a lanyard.
But it does not tailstand well.
I like to use a flooder when doing the evening wood chopping for the heating.
If I don’t lay it down it falls
Also while placing a little wood chip or something under one of the points and it drops, not nice, a light with this width should tail stand easy but now a C8 is more stable.

Hey Miller, the spill is wider than L6/S70?

Yeah more flood for sure.

I read they fixed the green shift, that is good.

The beamshot is similar to my MT02 but with less defined hotspot being the MT01 is using XHP50.

Thanks Miller, I will replace the G30 with the MT01:D

And the Q8, have some date estimated?

rizky_p nice pic, what is the ~distance? I think the MT01 and Q8 would light up the roof in front much more.
Can’t be long for the Q8 now
I really like to think this summer but of course it depends.

Using google map The distance is about 65m, i think i’ll be getting MT01 too i find MT02 hotspot to be too bright for close range.

The Miller: it must be nice living in the countryside, i lives in city center too much light around. Your house looks like a flashaholic heaven

Cant wait for Q8 either :crown:

Oh yeah, check my first post for a good overview of why I love flashlights so much

Wow that MT02 had a pretty tight beam, thanks for the distance.

Hey I have two questions:

1) Does a single cell stay in place inside the battery tube making single cell use convenient, or will it tilt?
2) What’s your overall impression of this light: does it feel like $40 (you get what you paid for), or is it much more premium?

Thanks!
