Lumintop Tool Copper with electronic switch

Subā€™ed.
Will do this hack after I got another switch

But where does one get another switch?

Yes. Looks awesome!

I had a spare replacement Tool Ti tailcap laying around (my original tailcap WAS faulty until I took the circuit board out, cleaned the contacts with DeoxIT and screwed it back in).
After receiving my Tool Copper, I decided to have a crack at this mod. Iā€™m quite pleased with the result:

ā€œEarsā€ cut off with an angle grinder (although could have easily been done with a Dremel), and ground level with my Dremel. Dremel used to sand the end flush, and then worked up sandpaper grits from 120 grit to 1200 (couldā€™ve gone higher but didnā€™t have anything higher left). Dremel with buffing wheel and polishing compound to buff, and a final polish with Autosol metal polish.
I used 400 grit to 1200 grit and then buffed to give the button a welcoming satin finish.

Sheā€™s now my prettiest copper light (her nameā€™s May btw - is that weird?).

ā€¦ā€¦canā€™t see the pics :frowning:

Fixed, thanks

Your Lumintop Cu looks very good, is also very nice polished :+1:
I had already forgotten how good the Cu looks polished without patina, great job!
Here is mine with the Massdrop brass:

My Tool Cu is still relatively new, it hasnā€™t had much of a chance to develop patina yet.
I think that itā€™ll look nice with a natural patina, yours definitely does

Pulling up an old thread to explore a problem Iā€™m having with this mod. I followed the above steps and everything went very well. Been EDCing it for six months or so. The issue Iā€™m having is the switch will sometimes not operate correctly. Clicks may not switch from one to another, or may not turn off the light at all just keeps cycling without shutting off. Ideas?

Replace switch.

Looking at the pictures I donā€™t see a signal from e-switch to the driver. So it operates by cutting power. Right?

The Copper Tool with electronic switch has arrived at Massdrop

I really like the Copper Eswitch option

Stock Massdrop CuTool in middle, the other two have LED swaps

I donā€™t mind the green tint in actual use, unless I compare side by side while whitewall huntingā€¦
My brain quickly adapts its white balance to the environment, our eyes are not as sensitive as my phone camera, to flicker, tint, color, brightnessā€¦
And, I can swap the other lights copper heads onto the Eswitch Tool too.

Its fun to have a silent switchā€¦ the regular tool clicks really loud, enough to wake a baby

although, Im still loyal to my Maratacā€¦ actuallyā€¦ Ive been carrying more than one FlashToy lately

Note the 219C is 24% brighter than the 219B in the worm

E-SWITCH mod done on a Tool vn. No more burning holes in my pants. This turned out nice for what tools I was working with. Angle grinder, files, 100, and 150 grit sand paper, polish.

Congrats on your switch mod

fwiw, the ESwitch wonā€™t give 3 modes with a fully charged LiIon, when using the stock Tool driver
Only high mode works until voltage drops below 3.8v (and yes, I realize the stock tool does not officially support LiIon, but I also know people who do it anyway)

maybe your toolVN does not have mode loss problem, since it may have a non stock driver that is LiIon only

Does your ESwitch work to give multiple modes w your Tool VN? Or do you run it single mode anyway?

I have full access to the UI of driver VN2. I run my ToolVN on 1% 30% 100% No memory. At 850 lumens turn on i cannot suffice with only 1 mode. I just had to reprogram the driver after installing the switch. I had a hard time reaching the programming mode and almost thought it wasnā€™t going to work. Then after 30min I finally got it to the mode group I wanted.

The TI tail spring seems to be of higher quality material and probably gives a slight bump in output when using direct drive current.

Lumintop was nice enough to let me buy the TI tail cap by its self.

awesome!
I was wondering if they would be kind enough to sell me a copper ETail

it does take the ETail about 30 minutes to charge up the capacitor in the switch that enables the modes above medium, glad its working for youā€¦

you are the first person I know to have tested the ESwitch with LiIon for ongoing useā€¦ great to hear your driver works multi mode with the Eswitch, the stock driver does not, so one more plus for the VN driverā€¦ nice kit

@DIPSTIX Awesome flashlight, I would like to have a Tool VN too but its a little bit expensive :frowning:

Here is my favorite Tool, a copper with a E-Switch and a Nichia LED andā€¦ā€¦ā€¦it is low-med-high :+1:
Love it and I really like the custom titan button!

I`ve just ordered me a copper with the e-switch from Massdrop, I am very curious how the 219c is doing
And hello Jon, long time no see! I had some health problems in the last months but now everything is fine again.

Greetings!

so glad youre back, I was concerned when you were absent

I look forward to your impressions of the 219c in the ETool.

Can you post link to copper with e-switch? I canā€™t find it on massdrop.
