I really like the picture with the light in the hand, in fact it is the picture that shows best how it is going to look like. I like the smooth finish too!
(for me a rough machine finish sounds not overly attractive, I like well finished flashlights with a good ano-layer. the best finish I have seen sofar is my Shadow TC300, in matt dark-brown ano.)
Oh My! With a negative power feeding to the LED's via the host, one could use DTP with emitters that don't have dedicated thermal pads. This light's design will open up some nice possibilities.
EDIT: Haven't decided if I will join this GB due to the clear finish, but I certainly wish the best on the endeavor. Very sweet light this will be for sure.
Oh my. I just saw picture with white anodized finish. If it looks like that, I definitely would like to be added to the list for one.
For some reason, I was thinking it would have a polished aluminum look.
Off of a lathe, you can get a variety of surface finishes. If your cutter is sharp and is fed into the material at the right rate, you can achieve a very nice and lightly textured look and feel. If you want something different, you can hit it with different grits of sandpaper to achieve a matte, satin or even mirror-polished look. I suppose the final surface will depend on the agreed-upon treatment after it is machined to shape.
I kinda like the shinier look as opposed to the satin look in the last picture but that’s just me.

That's just the version I made for myself, which is bead blasted. The production version will be blank or have clear anodising.
Please add me to the interest list. Is this ramping thing the same as infinite modes? Or does this light have a fixed set of modes, like low – medium – high?

Thanks. Guess I should be reading more and looking at pics less. Sorry for the confusion. For this specific light, I am out, but that doesn't I don't think its an awesome light. It is awesome and I look forward to seeing what it branches out to as time passes.
Sorry for posting that stunning light Fritz made so big at the start of the OP.
It is for the size, I will scale it down and place it lower to avoid people thinking it will look exactly like that.
Size is correct though
i hook up with the guys who suggested a hi-cri version with nichia triple! preferable in a titanium host
Well the choice of LEDs is simple
Lots of lumens with a decent tint.
Just imagine we say 2500 lumens, Djozz tests show at 9A 3K, when one wants to giggle or impress or just needs a full blast for not so long. It is just there in your pocket when you want. For EDC use you ramp to the level you need and have nice runtimes.
In a very small elegant light
Just plain awesome!
If this is to have a reflashable Narsil driver, and if there is no indicator LED, do you think there’s any chance of connecting a spare ADC-capable pin to LED- ? This would allow it to sense light levels through the LEDs when they’re off. Would be nice to have this for future expansion, like screen-based configuration.

right after clicking post here I copy paste it in the we (DEL, Tom Fritz Cawi and me) have about the driver
A good thing sells itself, a bad one advertises itself. You have been there
You are a flashaholic if you are forced to come out of the closet, to make room for more flashlights.
Oh yeah, agree, hate selling and judging by the three running specials they are good!

How about when many many people prefer a matt or even an pigmented ano over bare machine finish?

Exactly .
Made a quad with my Blf X5 , quad xp-g3 s4 3a . Even with the small 14500 cell draws 11,5 amps and puts out at least 2.2k lumens , haven’t measured …
