Nikon D40 SLR Spare Battery

I have a 10 year old Nikon D40 SLR with it’s original EN-EL9 battery still working fine. I’m looking to buy a spare and don’t want to spend the rip-off price of an OEM battery. Any recommendations?

For this sort of stuff I always start at AliExpress

Thanks a lot

NP, I normally think: “well a $5 battery probably is not gonna be as good but even with two it is cheaper to use these instead of ordering an official battery”

I know too many people who’ve had the “Ultrafire” experience with copycat batteries, so when I wanted a spare, I got one from MicroStore. Should be one near you somewhere…

buy one, pry open, change the innards to a better pack?

Not if it goes supernova in your 1500buk camera…

There’s a reason I stick with Nikon glass vs other brands. Quality. Even at half the price, a cheaper lens just doesn’t have the pixel-level clarity as a Nikon lens has.

I know people who’ve gotten copycat batteries that had nowhere near the capacity of the original, wouldn’t hold a charge, etc., and I just don’t want that kind of grief. I’m not about to use a bald leaking tire as a spare, nor would I use a crappy battery even as a backup. When I’d NEED either one, I want to be able to count on them.

For what’s essentially a one-time purchase, I’m not about to quibble over paying even 20bux more for the Real Thing.

The EN-EL9 that came with my D3k still works great, takes almost as many shots now as it did when I first got it (however long ago that was). The EN-EL15 with my D7k still lets me get thousands of shots, and holds its charge for a year or longer with barely a dent in its SOC. Even in the middle of winter when I’m not going out on any photo shoots for months, if I see something in the yard or want a few shots of a nice new snowfall, I know I can just grab the camera and it’ll still be ready to go. I don’t even think about recharging it ’til I’m pretty much down to its last bar. And a nice usb-fed battery charger that’s barely bigger than the battery itself slips into the side-pocket of my camera-case, and can give the battery a quick boost whether charging in the car or from a battery pack.

Point being, I never have to think about the battery. Call that peace of mind…

Wasabi Power is a popular and reputable brand

Do you mean Micro Center? I have one 10 miles from my house.

Looks good. I’ll probably order one to check out. Thanks

Ah, that’s the one.

Same place I got bobofett from.
