making 3. Batch Texas Avenger "TA" / Bistro HD OTSM drivers fully tested running Bistro or Narsil, Clicky or E-switch, SIR800

Attiny 45V more memory than the 25V
V is some sort of low voltage enhanced version that is needed for OTSM to work

Thanks for that information. I won’t likely be changing the firmware so not for me.

parts ordered from Digikey

Yeah i agree, LVP much more crucial for me too.
As far as i understand with 1.2 i loose the ability to add a led to the e-switch to have it show me voltage readouts. But i still could add a led there just as a locator, did i get that right?
Also i could flash the 1.2 with 1.5 when it is ready if it is not by the time of sending out batch 3, correct?

My order should be something like 30mm, Narsil 1.2 with LVP, and 2S LDO if i got everything right.
Btw, can the tactical 100% blast on the rear switch be removed? i would prefer to use the clicky just as lockout

Your right, you can’t use the indicator output with v1.2, but you don’t really need it. When you triple click, the main led will blink out your voltage. Plus you can use the power output pad to make the side switch light up when the tail switch is on (locator).

If you know how to flash it, then sure, you could upgrade to version 1.5 when it is ready. I don’t know how to do that.

The tactical rear switch is written in the code so it can’t be turned off. It would require a reflash to get rid of it. I have the tactical on my L6, but find its not as practical as I thought it would be. It’s so easy to click on and off with the side switch that I find myself not wanting the tactical option. This second driver I’m ordering will be programmed to do nothing when the rear switch is activated. I will know the rear switch is on because I plan to have the side switch light up on my new light as well.

you can choose how the light reacts to the rear switch
tactical=turbo
2B= 2 low blinks to aknowledge the Light is ready
NO=No light by the main LED

:+1:

2B seems like the best option to me.
Btw, in group mode what are the spacings of the different levels?
And is there a posibility to choose custom output levels for a certain group?

Edit:
Oh, and will there be a version with both LVP and Temp protection for 2S in the near future ? Is it a hardware or software limitation at the moment?

depends when Tom E will oficially release NarsilM

Customizing mode groups is no problem

So if i get the 1.2 version driver now, and later Tom releases NarsilM, i could flash NarsilM and get the Temp protection too, is that correct?
Or some hardware modding would be required too, to get both LVP and Temp protesction with NarsilM?

if the NarsilM is set to LVP on Pin 7 it will work with same hardware as v1.2

I think what he’s asking is if you will have to switch between pin 7 being for LVP or for temperature.

Wasn’t it hardware limited that there were not enough pins to do both at the same time?

Narsil v1.3 and v1.4 switched from voltage divider to internal voltage reference to add the indicator LED
Also temperature protection was added

Hardware limitation is only to do indicator or 2S LVP in next Narsil version

To be more precise,
i was asking if i now get the 1.2 2S Narsil driver with LVP on PIN 7 and then Tom’s NarsilM comes out with LVP set on PIN7, i flash it on the driver.
Will i then have both at same time 2S LVP + Temp Protection ?
Or it still will be a choice between 2S LVP or Temp Protection?

Hope its clearer what im asking.

NarsilM has of course temp protection avaialble, no external pin needed for it

when flashing NarsilM pin7 must be set to external voltage reference then compile the hex

if done right you can simply flash NarsilM over a v1.2 and it works

parts from digikey arrived

starting to reflow

Thanks for the info , all clear now. Will shoot you a pm with my order

a lot reflow work done
cleaned and visual inspected

Been there, done that. That is a lot more work then it looks like (and it looks like a lot).
