Q8, PMS SEND TO THOSE WITH ISSUES BLF soda can light

David, seeds from hybrid plants don’t breed true. I’m not positive, but I think they revert back to the parents which in this case would be ghost peppers and habaneros. Not exactly junk, but not what’s desired. A fresh habanero has a wonderful fruity flavor for those who can tolerate the heat. I love to slice them paper thin and put them on a sub’ sandwich, but the wife gets tired of the overpowering flavor (I don’t mean the heat). I don’t think I’ve ever tasted a more flavorful pepper. There I go, salivating at the thought.

Dale, if they’re anything like the parent habanero they can be frozen whole and they’ll last for a very long time. Just wash and leave the stems on, the skin protects the flesh from freezer burn. Or make hot sauce. A lot of stuff can be added to it, but I just use vinegar and salt, peppers too of course. And hot oil, can’t forget hot oil that keeps a long time in the refrigerator and it’s the best way to make spicy hot fried chicken and get it hot enough.

Hey now, play nice.
Don’t make me write slash fiction about you two.

… “Digital sparks flew as the two men bounced misogynistic boasts back and forth with a titillating air of excitement, for they each recognized the coded communication for what it was — covert mating calls for like-minded men.” …

Darn Lazy-R-us… I had forgot all about the “Send Teacher To China Campaign” …. :person_facepalming:

It may be time to renew my efforts along those lines. There might be a bit of extra incentive……….

Dale, I read somewhere that pepper plants will live year round if kept from too cold temperatures. Also, if they’re kept above 80F, they keep producing peppers year round! They can make great house plants. Oh, one more thing. If you want them REALLY hot, water them just enough to keep them alive. If they get too much water, the peppers aren’t hot at all.

If I had them then they would think they were living in a swamp……

The well pump would be working overtime…………

Ha I think you are right David, I placed a pot indoors during the winter in the hopes of letting a pepino survive (it didn’t)
A large pot and last summer we had a bunch of paprika and pepper plants growing in it, I had cut the when I harvested the last peppers. From one of the stems now a new plant is growing.
Cool ti about not watering too much!

Brian, David… Carolina Reaper isn’t a hybrid it’s a Cultivar. In order to make the Guiness Book of World Records the plant had to be able to reproduce and sustain the level of heat in question.

Edit: Worthy to note, perhaps, and of special interest to us here… This month one Mike Smith with Nottingham Trent University claims to have bested the Carolina Reaper with what he calls “Dragon’s Breath”. He is currently having Guiness Book of World records try to establish it’s 2.4 million Scoville units as the new record.

I love hot peppers, but never had a Carolina Reaper. I’ve had ghost peppers, which I love. They actually had a delicious flavor. I suppose all of these vary in heat a bit, even within the same strain.

Yes, as noted above, growing conditions can affect the heat intensity. Also, there can be some natural variation from plant to plant, I’m sure. Carolina reapers do taste a bit different. They inherit a bit of the characteristic Habanero flavor, which some people love and others hate.

Yeah, my wife was telling me just a couple hours ago that there was a new “hottest” pepper out there named “Dragon’s Breath”. She’s not interested in spicy foods herself, but she knows I like it.

A local shop sells ghost pepper salt. They say the intended means of consumption is to sprinkle a few grains on a bowl of soup then stir to dissolve it and make the whole bowl spicy… but I like it better without the soup. The stuff is like candy.

That reminds me. Once upon a time, back in the dawn of forever, I tried to convince my parents to get me a salt lick. They refused… and I might still be a little salty about it.

She’d probably be the one to go anyway. Right after you said ” Wanna see my flashlight collection?”

Yes, they will survive the winter and continue to grow next season, or with the right climate year round. I have only had luck with that one year. After that every year they are attacked and die from whiteflies. Insecticidal soap kills them, but it’s just a losing battle and I just refuse to use anything stronger. I don’t like hot peppers enough to kill us as well, 10 years later.

Springs are a big deal. Did you see the ones Imalent used on their DT70 and DT35? Instead of coil springs they used disc springs which only flex a tiny bit, less than 1 mm. So obviously they want you to use the Imalent batteries. Even then, some of the batteries will lose contact. Springs have to be done propery. Lol

Ha ha.

I do know a lot about springs from designing suspension systems on race cars. Some of that knowledge transfers to flashlights like preload and usable travel, etc… I just try to state facts without any emotion, but maybe it seemed I was “overzealous” maybe? I’m sorry, I’ll try to tone it down. :sunglasses:

Sir Jason of Houstington, I salute your efforts to keep old springs lively and supple. It’s quite unfortunate when springs enter old age and can’t perform like they used to…

It’s just … I think the Q8 team has it covered. And as we wait for that to get worked out, why not play? The Q8 may not be shipping yet, but we can still “ship” other fun things… so I used, as examples, whatever recent posts stood out. Not specifically trying to pick on anyone, but if it came off that way please let me know so I can be more careful.

On the bright side, you’ve officially levelled up to One Millihelen. Not many people have had a ship launched in their honor.

Because we are already a bit offtopic and i have to find something to do until the Q8 is out i want to ask if someone had experience with one of this UV leds?

I want to build a light with an MC-E led but the MELD-X RGBW (uv) flashlight driver has a 5 channel for a uv led so i want to get a nice strong 385nm led (for glue curing). If there is something better or stronger out there that did not cost 3times the money i am open for suggestions.

365nm is best for curing NOA.

JasonVW, shipmaster

We’re just waiting around til the batch is done perking.

And when it’s done, then the tasting starts.
