Q8, PMS SEND TO THOSE WITH ISSUES BLF soda can light

I think I remember far back in this thread, someone asking about thread locker for the tripod thread, hence this post. I just remembered that post and recently discovered this product for another use.

If something like loctite is used it can be undone with heat and tools no matter what grade is used. But another product is available that won’t harden and is reusable and adjustable. Those are good qualities where one needs increased friction to allow potential removal of the 1/4-20 adapter in the light but not so much friction between the 1/4-20 adapter and the tripod plate. I have a similar issue with firearms and threads that require increased friction but where I don’t want to use hardening Loctite. Vibra-tite VC-3 is such a product. It’s a polymer that requires 30 minutes to dry before the threaded part is reinstalled and once installed it can be removed and reused (3x). Once applied there is no time limit before it can be installed into the thread. I suggest just applying it to one side of the thread to see how that works and only use one application. Don’t ask me how I know this  .

I would have posted sooner but just recently discovered it. It’s available in many sizes.

As I write I have the 1/4-20 adapter for the MK41 drying before reinstalling it into the light. It should work there. It definitely works in the more critical firearms I’ve used it on.

Do you have a link and name Brian?

interesting!

Hey, I think I figured out where all the weird China flashlight company names come from.
They must be using artificial intelligence — with results like these paint names:

> vibra-tite
Be careful with that stuff, it uses MEK (Methyl ethyl ketone) as a solvent.
That’s in the “know when not to inhale” category.
And don’t get it on your skin.

I’m thinking the Panze can only do 2 26650 and 2 18650 judging by the narrow inner slots.

I think I need to look at the opus. It physically looks like it will hold 4 x 26650. Thanks.

I just tried the Opus. It won’t fit 4x26650

Right the Panzer only has space for 26mm diameter cells in the 2 outer slots. If the need for 4 x 26650 was mentioned I missed that. Sorry.

Yes it does, but IMO it’s a very low concentration. They have other versions that use other solvents, VC-4, VC-5, etc’. At least that’s what I got out of what I read. The amount used is also very small. Surely less than a drop per adapter; the amount of MEK is very tiny in that drop.

Thanks for the warning though. I have a history with MEK and respiratory problems. Many decades ago I used it literally by the gallon to clean extruders that ran at 300+°F - 400°. We’d pour it in one end and it would come out the other end. The MEK fumes were like a fog. As I wrote, I had respiratory problems from it. VC-3 is nothing at all like that. I couldn’t even smell it when the bottle was open.

If you have to charge 4 x 26650’s at a time…. Just get two of these Bad Boys and do 4 at a time at 2A each.

Excdllent charger BTW.

Maybe a group buy? Buy 50 or more and the price goes down to $17.

I’d get another at that price. :+1:
I got mine on a Black Friday sale for $20. Very pleased with it too.

For parallel cell configs like the Q8, it’s probably a good idea to use a single charger for all four cells in order to get the cells balanced. Different chargers have different termination voltages, and when you put the separately-charged cells into the Q8 they’ll immediately cross-charge each other to equalize any differences.

Even reasonably good chargers still have a margin of error, with some units stopping at 4.17V and others stopping at 4.24V. That’s usually fine for a single cell, but with four cells in parallel they really should match each other as closely as possible.

AI is fun, no? For simple text generation like that, a neural network is probably overkill… it’s easier to do that sort of thing with Markov chains. Things get really fun with more detailed simulations though, like tools to convert from line-drawings to photographic images. Here’s a fun online version to play with:

For example, I used my Mad Artsy Skillzz ™ to make a shoe… and a purse… and a hipster sasquatch.

Hipster Sasquatch says: I was into AI before it was cool.

I can do 4 X 1 @ 1A in my charger, so bring it on :sunglasses:

Excellent advice…. I totally agree to. That is what I do/will do for the Q8 also.

My bad also…. I thought he was asking about 26650’s.

You’re right; I think he was indeed. But for anyone looking for a Q8 charger, be aware that doubling up for faster charges may not be the best idea.

A quad 26650 flashlight in the Q8 flavor would only be good for one thing, and that’s for assuring someone will sleep with the fish for a longtime

Ok… and +1 to TK’s advice.
