Q8, PMS SEND TO THOSE WITH ISSUES BLF soda can light

Maybe a group buy? Buy 50 or more and the price goes down to $17.

I’d get another at that price. :+1:
I got mine on a Black Friday sale for $20. Very pleased with it too.

For parallel cell configs like the Q8, it’s probably a good idea to use a single charger for all four cells in order to get the cells balanced. Different chargers have different termination voltages, and when you put the separately-charged cells into the Q8 they’ll immediately cross-charge each other to equalize any differences.

Even reasonably good chargers still have a margin of error, with some units stopping at 4.17V and others stopping at 4.24V. That’s usually fine for a single cell, but with four cells in parallel they really should match each other as closely as possible.

AI is fun, no? For simple text generation like that, a neural network is probably overkill… it’s easier to do that sort of thing with Markov chains. Things get really fun with more detailed simulations though, like tools to convert from line-drawings to photographic images. Here’s a fun online version to play with:

For example, I used my Mad Artsy Skillzz ™ to make a shoe… and a purse… and a hipster sasquatch.

Hipster Sasquatch says: I was into AI before it was cool.

I can do 4 X 1 @ 1A in my charger, so bring it on :sunglasses:

Excellent advice…. I totally agree to. That is what I do/will do for the Q8 also.

My bad also…. I thought he was asking about 26650’s.

You’re right; I think he was indeed. But for anyone looking for a Q8 charger, be aware that doubling up for faster charges may not be the best idea.

A quad 26650 flashlight in the Q8 flavor would only be good for one thing, and that’s for assuring someone will sleep with the fish for a longtime

Ok… and +1 to TK’s advice.

I thought about this one, but getting 2 of them with 2 cords plus the VC4 I already have is pretty messy. Cords will be everywhere! Lol.

2 of them probably is my best bet.I could charge
4 x 26650 at 2A plus
2 x 26350 and 1 or 2 Misc 18650 at 0.5A all at once!
Then when they are done I can do
4 x 18650 at 1A.
Same brand, same simple interface. Yeah, seems like the best choice. Thanks.

Given that I usually get at least a month out of a single 16340 cell, or several months from 1x18650, I probably won’t need to charge the Q8 more often than once per year. I really don’t mind charging the cells in a cheap Nitecore i4, even if it takes 8 hours, since it happens so rarely.

I suppose if you use it all night every night though, like a security guard, charging speed might be a lot more important.

Yep, I do night security work. Lots of lights, lots of cells, but luckily I can charge them all at once, just once a week.

BTW, the SV2 is practically half price at illumn. I’m not sure if they are a sponsor here so I won’t post a link, but I’m sure most folks can find it just fine.

Got me 2 on the way!

Link to SV2 at Illumn.

I use the XTAR Rocket for my 26650’s, at 2A charge rate. Would’ve sworn the question was about charging the 4 18650’s of the Q8 all at once at 1A…

One could always buy 4 Utorch UT02’s and charge the cells at a 3A rate in the lights…

:+1: …. Your welcome, glad I coud help.

That is a good price… you hit a homerun on that.

I was kind of asking about that, but it’s been mentioned before that the Liitokala Lii-500 is a great choice. Simple and inexpensive. I was trying to make the question a bit harder looking for a similar power charger but holding 4 of the bigger 26650 cells.

Maybe in the future charger companies will realize they can increase sales, just by using a slightly larger housing to fit 4 big cells.

All 88 got it, they do 8 at a time, 1A to each, regardless of size (that is, if you select 1A, goes lower too and they do NiMH as well). I have 3 of em, if I can work em, anyone can!

I was looking at it and it does seem pretty complicated. One thing that made me pause was that the terminating voltage from the All 88 tended to vary from 4.14 volt to 4.19 volt (according to HKJ’s test). I don’t think it’s a big deal in the real world, but I wish it was a bit more consistent. Does it bother you any?

It would be a great choice for these guys who are buying 2 of the Q8’s. Charge all 8 cells at 1A at the same time.

Yes, that’s true… but it’s been pretty much true across the board from my experience. My Efest LUC chargers terminate early, my Opus C3100 V 2.2 terminates early, I’ve bought new chargers many time for this reason. When I modify a light I go to great lengths to reduce internal resistance everywhere I find it, I don’t do all that just to put a cell in it at 4.17V and see what it does with a short cell! Still, for those heading back out into the night these chargers are viable options.

For me, quoting the numerous builds I do, I want a consistent 4.20V on my cells.

If you want to charge 8 cells, all 18650’s that want 1A charge rate, you put them in, you adjust the first one to 4.2V and 1A, then you press and hold the two center buttons and all 8 cells snyc up and charge the same. Simple.
