Q8, PMS SEND TO THOSE WITH ISSUES BLF soda can light

Nope, I noticed it. But I think this post is actually 8044.

I think your answer lies in the quoted words of wisdom below from “The Resident BLF Goddess”.

hmmmm going on about going off topic is going off topic yes?

Cheers David

It seems as if BLF’s community and projects have been getting bigger over time. While it’s too late for the Q8 project to do so, perhaps future projects would be advised to have two threads instead of just one? One thread would be like we usually do, with the full firehose of discussion… and the other thread might be a curated “digest” or used for announcements only?

I’m not sure if it’s needed or not, but it would give people a middle ground between first-post-only updates and the full discussion.

If people running future projects are willing, perhaps it’d be good to give the idea a try, to see if it’s worthwhile?

Meanwhile, we have only the firehose… and the rules are pretty simple. As Bill & Ted would put it, “Be excellent to each other”. Or as Wil Wheaton puts it, “Don’t be a dick”. Those are both pretty open to interpretation though, so our friendly neighborhood admin created a more detailed set of rules to clarify a few things.

This thread has pushed the edges of some of those rules at times, occasionally stepping a bit beyond rules 1, 2, 3, and 4, but as far as I’m aware none of it has gone far enough to require any intervention… people usually just tell each other to be nice and then things get better.

I know I have difficulty respecting rule 2 at times (profanity/lewdness), and I have a tendency to go waaaaay off-topic. I do try to keep things interesting though, so if I think a post has no value to others and would be a waste of the seconds it takes to read, I try to keep it to myself. Because rule 9 — have fun. That’s what all this is really about, no?

We’re all just sitting in an English garden waiting for the sun Q8, but I can respect that some would prefer to get only curated updates direct from the eggmen.

Without this Q8 thread I would not likeky had ever known of the existence of G-scale trains and those famous sites to visit and see them.

I can’t speak for everyone, but personally… synaptic pruning dysfunction (excessively-connected neurons), blonde retinas (light sensitivity), and a sleep disorder since my ipRCGs (intrinsically photosensitive retinal ganglion cells) don’t work. And probably half a dozen psychological issues… I’m pretty sure “goddess complex” is on my psych eval sheet somewhere.

And minor injuries here and there, like I keep bruising myself while juggling combat-weight swords. And did I mention I got shot a few weeks ago? The bullet bounced right off, leaving barely a scratch and a bruise… True story. Doesn’t exactly help with that goddess-complex thing though.

Oh, and the crushing weight of life’s obligations and hardships and being ultimately alone in the universe. Everyone has that though, to some extent.

Or was “what’s wrong” a rhetorical question? I have a bad habit of answering those.

Hahaha always a delight reading TKs posts!

Nah not 6K off topic, but indeed a lot, I see we have now also added how to “bring toys in car without being fined” to the off topic list, I would think, add a ball and two gloves so that bat is clearly part of leisure set. Put a knife in a box with fishing things, so it is clearly part of leisure set

So, to clarify something from earlier… it may not be quite the same thing as literally juggling swords, but what I’ve been doing is pretty close. Despite how it looks, the weight is heavier than a wooden bokken, and it can break bones. I’ve just about got the tricks in that video down now… except the behind-the-head catch. So far I’ve only done that part in front instead of behind.

Patience, padawan. Don’t smack yourself in the head.

Oh, um, I’m with Djozz about the trains… thought it was pretty interesting. I go the opposite route though… instead of making little trains act big, I like making big trains look little. For example, I took this picture one day while I was doing some levitation exercises around a nearby mountain:

I’m interested. Please add me to the list.

Great appreciation for all your hard work guys!

Not really. It’s trying to steer this mess BACK to topic. I’ll just turn of notifications and hope I don’t miss the day when the codes come out.

Don’t turn off notifications, just unsubscribe to this thread. The code will be PM’d to you, in which case you will be notified.

Back OnTopic: where are the other two of seven lights? Haven’t they arrived yet? I mean if 2out of 7 go missing it’ll be a mess when they have to ship +1000 :person_facepalming:

I believe they haven't arrived yet. I've had very inconsistent orders arriving from China as of late. What used to be 3-6 days in transit/customs overseas, has gotten inconsistent - one as long as 40 days - the Eagle Eye X9 from AliExpress. Others in the range of 15-22 days, but others go quick - no rhyme or reason. Right now I got an SRK clone from AliExpress that is stuck in transit/customs for 30 days.

These prototypes are shipped from ThorFire direct. The group buy will be via BangGood, so different shipping services probably. For me at BangGood, the M12 took 23 days total, about 19 days held up in transit/customs, but couple other orders came quicker.

What you say is correct, Robert.

But some of us are also interested in keeping up to date about Q8 related posts and it’s quite a time waster trying to go through all the fillers to get to the relevant posts, if any.

It’s tough on us who were into the Q8 early on. Imagine what it’s like for some newbie who learned about the Q8 today, only to find an 8000 post thread to try to go through.

Tom I am having a similar shipping problems with AliExpress as of late. I have a thorfire s70s that has been in transit for 52 days. It was shipped epacket from Elfeland outdoor lighting. I went 43 days without an update and then a few days ago I get an update that it arrived in Chicago usps terminal. And now, 52 days since I placed my order, it is set to be delivered tomorrow. The only reason I haven’t disputed the order was the fact they have extended the purchase protection a total of 4 times. In the same time period I have received a dozen orders from china with no delay, a few of those were just standard registered air mail via Hong Kong post. No rhyme or reason as to the difference. Maybe the other two protos will finally show up. As far as the off topic complaints…lighten up and relax a little bit. None of the people consulting on this light is being financially compensated so maybe we shouldn’t complain about how they use their free time. Cheers to all!

Interesting... My S70S from ElfeLand on Ali took 22 days from Apr 27th to May 18th, with 15 days in transit/customs. I used to get stuff in 10-15 days usually.

> campfire/candle flicker mode

Just capture a few moths inside the cup.

Are they send to different parts of the world maybe? Still think it’s weird that 7 identical packages are send on the same day from the same company and that there’s so much difference in delivery time. But yeah maybe there’s just no system to be found in these things.

> campfire/candle flicker mode

Just capture a few moths inside the cup.

 that looks weird and great

What is that? I must have missed something. Did someone actually design a candle mode?
