Q8, PMS SEND TO THOSE WITH ISSUES BLF soda can light

+2 . :+1: . :+1:

I disagree to agree.

C’mon fellows, don’t you realize what’s going on here? Thorfire promised us one lumen per post on the production Q8. We need to keep this up so we’ll all have a 12,000 or even 15,000 lumen Q8 in our hands! They might even throw in an Ove’Glove!

:person_facepalming:

I am still so tempted to swap in some xhp50.2’s into the Q8 and make 15k lumens, even though I know it will overheat in moments. Or go really crazy and put 4 xhp70.2’s in it and make 25k lumens….

/\\\\\\

That would be amazing!! Even more so if you could find a way to transfer the heat from the light & dissipate it.

No way in heck you would be able to disapate xhp70.2’s. That would be around 350W+ from rough math, you would need a massive CPU heat sink to even hope to try to keep that reasonably well cooled.

The xhp50.2 should be a bit more tame a mere 225W. Still impossible to cool in basically any flashlight though. Based on my 17k lumens SRK I have now, You would be lucky to get the same turbo runtime as say a triple S2 before it overheats. Or about 30-45 seconds.

Do you have any links were someone converted an SRK style light to 2P 2S? I’m drawing a blank as to how you would do it with the twist on battery tube.

BTW, Vinh over at Sky Lumen has got some 70.2’s and made a few 20k+ lumen monsters with them.

Oh I know what your saying, that’ why I said “if”.

But remember, we did send men to the moon.

My MT03 is for sure getting XHP70.2's.

A few people at BLF have done it. The trick is to lock the battery tube in place and unscrew only the very tail end of the light, with posts built in to keep the rotation correct. For example:

Yep, as TK said it has been done. I did it to my 17k lumen SRK. Pretty easy really, the hardest part was getting the driver all lined up before gluing everything together.

It finally stopped raining, so I went out to try a new trick.

Achievement unlocked: A dozen behind-the-head lightsaber catches in a row with alternating hands and zero head-bonking.

Maybe next time I’ll remember to change into exercise clothes first instead of wearing a dress.

We have some 21,000 members these days. Impossible to cater to every Individual. The goal is that every individual will cater to the forum and it will be a better place for everyone.

I happen to know for a fact that there are quite a few people here suffering some form of disability or impairment and the flashlight hobby is crucial to their well being… I am one of them. So yes, some of us have more time on our hands than others. Some are retired, some just got their first job. Everyone is here under their own circumstances.

If any here that are complaining of how much off topic chatter would like to burden themselves with some of my pain, or any number of other members pain, please feel free to do so. If you’re not willing to do this, then perhaps you could at least allow us the freedom to enjoy what little there is left to us to put a smile on our face. Thank you in advance for cowboying up.

So sorry for those that are too busy to enjoy the forum, perhaps you will be better able to spend time here in the future. Here’s to that being pain free on your part…

If your referring to the moves in This Video you posted earlier TK…. very impressive ‘grasshopper’. :+1:

Very impressive indeed, exercise clothes or not.

I suppose, different strokes… Then again that’s pretty much the purpose of differing forums, and differing threads….I supermod a site that is 20 times the size of this…with 170 sub forums…. Keeping things organized keeps things flowing smoothly…
Maybe I’m just not used to chaos…Then again there are 30 + mods, 10 SM and a few admins running around over there.

Ultimately I like to pop into the thread and not just see post 1 updated, but rather all the topical, informative, and relative banter relating to what The Miller, DBcustom, and the rest of the people are bouncing around…. All the Choo Choo talk and other stuff clutters up what is otherwise a stellar look into what makes this hobby so great…
I sent someone over here to read this Q8 thread…. All they said was ‘Um yea, too much crap to wade through. I’ll just take your word for it.’ They registered and put in for one, but I think they missed out on some seriously cool geek stuff buried in here…

Different forums are, well… different. I am an admin on a different forum. We too are a free, non-profit forum like BLF. We too run a little loose as far as strictly keeping on topic. I find that much more friendly than getting out the thumb screws and being heavy handed with moderation and rebukes to stay on topic. Part of the reason the Q8 topic has run to thousands of posts id the time it has take to get to having a near perfect product to this almost ready point.

The saving grace for these BLF projects is that really all that matters is contained in the first post. Anything important is there. For those of us short on time that is the meat. Mostly I don’t care about the rest, except for times when I have more time I want to devote to the fine details. I believe the way the project and other past and present projects have develoiped is fine; a good compromise between iron-fisted “thou shalt not wander” and total chaos.

Yes, I decided to learn the throw at the end. After about 10 minutes I was able to get it sometimes, and after 20 minutes I was getting it almost every time. Not nearly as smooth as how she did it in the video, but she has been doing it a whole lot longer.

Then I came in for a hot shower, overheated, and had a blood pressure crash from which I still feel like a wet noodle. Oops. I guess I should add “werenoodle” or “pastathropy” to the list of what’s wrong with me.

Anyway, I’d tie in the Q8 somehow, but I’m too far off-topic for that. If it was a zoomie like a Jax Z1, I could maybe make the case that this saber-spinning thing could be done with a flashlight to achieve a similar effect in fog… but it’s not a zoomie. And I’m not sure I want to expose my Z1 to the level of abuse my practice saber gets.

:+1: … Well, like I said earlier…. very impressive. Take care & watch those BP drops.
