Q8, PMS SEND TO THOSE WITH ISSUES BLF soda can light

It is forthcoming:

No. I only use single exposures. Balancing the exposure is the tricky bit! No Photoshop, only adjustments in Lightroom. The EXIF data is viewable if you are interested.

So I shouldn't ask?

Of course you can ask! But now you know the answer if you feel like asking at a later date.

Heck yeah… ask away. :+1: … If you have any good “off topic” chatter or info throw that in too. It has been pretty dead on the thread the last few days. :open_mouth:
We gotta keep the post count up ya’ know……

Silence from ThorFire as of late. I'm getting ready to commit to the current NarsilM firmware release, so only other issue is the springs. Think the Chinese holiday delayed things. Also the ThorFire guy we deal has to translate and communicate with the engineering team at a remote location, so it can take a while for the back and forth. I'd speculate some of that is goin on. Plus I would think they woud be checking sourcing for springs, and the holiday made that difficult I'm sure.

Just installed NarislM on a OTR M3, stock light:

Updated it from a XM-L2 U3 3D to a XPL2 V6 3B (from KD). These alignment pieces fit the XM-L2 size reflector opening perfectly: http://www.kaidomain.com/p/S024677.8_4mm(D)-x-0_9mm(T)-White-Plastic-Insulation-Gaskets-for-Cree-XP-L-10-pcs. They look nothing like the pictures though in the listing - weird.

Using an IMREN 16340 (from IMRBatteries), got 5.5A at the tail (clamp meter), 1,460 lumens @start and just 24.6 uA parasitic drain (224 uA w/switch LED on).

All running NarsilM w/smooth ramping and all the features the Q8 has: temperature step down, switch indicator LED, lockout, LVP, blink out voltage and temp, blink at a ramping level to show output channel your running on, blinks: 1: 7135, 2: bank of 7135's, 3; FET), plus all the mode sets and configuration settings the Q8 has

Hey, that’s my EDC light. Did you piggyback a second driver board in there? I can’t tell as I’ve never had mine apart. This sounds like a great mod. If you go into more details on another thread, please post a link here so we can check it out.

Hey Tom, I’m curious - how does the temperature stepdown work? Do you have a thermistor on one of the pins, or is there a relationship between the temperature and the current into the LED that you can measure from there?

The ATtiny25/45/85 have a built in thermistor, so I'm using that. It's notoriously off calibration from MCU to MCU. This one in the M3 reads bout 20-22C high. I'm using -19C as the calibration offset.

Here's the Photobucket album on my M3 mods: http://s1054.photobucket.com/user/TomE2012/library/Custom%20Mods/OnTheRoad%20M3.

The driver has to be sanded down, trimmed, shaped to fit - it was nasty, but works. Someone like DEL could probably design one to match perfect to the stock, then buy them at OSHPark. That would be better all around - easier and better thermally.

It looks like you received an other item from KD:

There was another period of free time, Dragon Boat Festival
We expect some news soon now that work resumed

Yea, that's what I thought, but those are clear - I got a bunch of those already. Didn't try them but they could be the same size, as described. Both say 8.4 mm - think this is the typical small XML size hole.

And something more offtopic.
I will order a few UV LEDs in the next days. And i will have some left to sell (Non profit). I asked djozz and from the pictures it is a LG 3 Gen UV LED.
Further information in this Thread: Cheap bare 385nm UV LED

To good a mention to at least not know a little about it. I give you Dragon Boat Festival

Not even 1000 lumens per headlight but the Q8 Sport looks great.

^

It sure does!!! :+1:
But I think you could mount a Q8 right on top of the air dam with a special made bracket. For those time when a bit more light was needed.

Perhaps 4 Q8’s in the front grill instead of those Audi badges?

Maybe that was a joke, but RMM sells something very similar to that:

If you really do want a lot of light on your car, there’s basically nothing better.

Very impressive!

:+1: … I like your idea even better!!!

I can’t speak for lionheart but yep, mine was a semi “on topic” joke.
But yep, what you said about light bars is right on target TK. I don’t have a RMM model yet, but I’ve had some for a while now. And nothing beats them as far as I am concerned…. especially out in the boonies where you don’t have to be concerned about blinding oncoming drivers.
I hope to try a RMM version in the future.

:+1: Well said!!!
