Just got my red Nichia last night. Great little light!

Tint is slightly warmer than my Manker-made Astrolux A01, so it’s definitely in 4000K territory.

Loving the LMHML mode and the fact that it ramps up or down during brightness mode change, not the usual abrupt, discrete jump.

Meteor M43. I thought it had something to do with preventing overshoot with boost drivers. Perhaps not specifically required for such a small light, but for the sake of coolness?

I asked Tom E in the NarsilM Thread to implement it for max. brightness. Toykeeper mentioned a driver which can do it.

For the headband I think I sew one out of elastic bands. It’s only a band around the head and a small loop for the tube.

Several of the newer Olight flashlights do it during the mode change to High/Turbo and turning off from the higher modes. I can’t recall the exact models that do, but I mentioned it in my reviews. It is a pleasant little ‘feature’, but I don’t know if it’s intentional or not.

Still a bit off-topic, has anyone heard any more details about the AA version of the Manker E02? The AAA seems solid, but AA would be more suitable for my use.

Yeah, it’s branded SkilHunt, but it’s pretty simple and cheap enough. Probably be a little loose with the E02 (mine hasn’t arrived yet to test). I’ll post more once I have the light. Actually ordered the headband a while back to use as a spare. Prefer the elastic loop to the silicone doohickies most lights come with.

Then again, if you already have an elastic headband, a small strip of double sided velcro, like the ones IT guys use for cable wrapping would make a decent loop for the light, IMO.

ToyKeeper’s Bistro firmware used on the BLF X6 and popular for DIY lights ramps between levels. Lights with ring dimmers usually have a soft start, probably so they don’t overshoot the desired brightness while reading the position of the dimmer control.

They’ve confirmed that they plan on making both a 14500/AA and 18650 version.

According to Trevi_lux’s review the lockout works as follows:

Electronic Lock out: We will need some practice for the electronic lock ou, which prevents accidental turn on.

With the flashlight on we must do a sequence of: 1 click, then 2 clicks and then 3 clicks, then we will see how the Led is in a kind of moonlight mode ultralowwww for 5 seconds and then automatically turns off. To unlock do the same: 1 click, 2 clicks, 3 clicks. It does not seem very complicated but requires enough practice that we take the necessary cadence, the flashlight must interpret the minimum but necessary pause between each group of clicks, this mean: it is not really 6 clicks in a row, if not giving those groups with a micro-pause. I will show a video of it, so you can see that it is possible, I upload it tomorrow if I can make it.

I read that as “single click [very short pause] double click [very short pause] triple click” to activate or deactivate the electronic lockout. As Trevi_lux says, this is not the same as six quick clicks in a row.

If you find the electronic lockout awkward, you can also lock the light out mechanically by loosening the tailcap slightly.

FWIW, Eo2 (with clip) fits Olight Nova H1/H1R headstrap very well. Not Too loose or too tight!
