Home Depot Deal Alerts & Discussion Thread

I have been traveling since Sunday. One of the things I have been doing while traveling is checking out HD’s for deals and penny deals. Monday I got a text message from a friend asking about this 432 tool set he came across.

I told him what I told everyone reading this thread, if is tagged at $300.06 with a date of 02/08/2017 it should go to $100.03 any day now. In fact I had printed out the UPC code that I provided a few posts above and was carrying it with me to use at the price checkers while I traveled. I only saw it priced at $300.06 in NY, NJ while on a short vacation last week. This week all the stores I checked in NY, PA and OH had them still at $349.00, down from the original $399.00.
Today I got a text from another friend while he was standing in MY HOME TOWN Home Depot.

I quickly texted him back with the message Buy Them All!
There were 3, enough for 1 each for the 3 of us.
Here is a blow up of just what this set includes. It is Huskies biggest set.
Of note, it contains 5 ratchet wrenchs and 3 breaker bars. Also 3 sizes of swivel adapters and 2 sets of ratcheting box wrenches!

On my trip I DID find lots of penny deals, but this deal is the best.

That’s amazing—you nailed it exactly. i was expecting to see a new date, but the new price tag still has the old date 2/8/17. So long till it would go for a penny, if nobody were to buy them? My local store has that set “reduced” to $349.

In this case, $349.00 is the first step in the clearance process. Usually the first price reduction will end with a “0”. The percentage price drop is small and it can stay at that price point for an indefinite amount of time. The second price drop of $300.06, ends with a “6”, is 25% off and will last for about 6 weeks. The 3rd reduction will be about 75% off end with a “3” In this case $100.03. In about 3 weeks it will go to a penny and be pulled off the sheves.

Any store that currently has them at $349.00 will eventually go the $300.06, then $100.03. If they don’t sell through.
So you are at least 6 weeks away from the “3” price.

Here is a penny deal I found yesterday while in Ohio.
This store is always neat as a pin, partially because there are never any customers in it. I really wonder how they stay open. Very hard to find penny deals as they always right on top of everything.
Anyway, I walked the store and found a couple of mismarked clearance items, so there were a few chinks in their armour, meaning there was hope.
I also found a couple of items at the “3” price that I could use. As I was up at the self checkout with some “3” ittems, I spotted some CAT stuff from the back of the display next to the self checkout. That was surprising to me as the CAT stuff had gone on clearance months ago. So I went around to check out that display And this is what I saw.

All of the usual CAT and Black & Decker stuff that had already gone on clearance elsewhere at the “3” price, but here they were all at full list.
BUT, I noticed some thing else. Right in the middle is a “Battery Tender” Lithium Ion Boost Charger.
Those also went on clearance at the “3” price and were $79.97 when at full list. The price under it was $19.97.

They were NEVER at that price!
When I looked more closely I could see that the $19.97 was for a set of jumper cables, it was placed in the wrong spot.
When I looked elsewhere on this display for a $79.97 price tag, I saw none. I thought this could be a penny.
And it was.

Here are some other deals. When I heard that the 02/08/2017 date went from the “6” price to the “3” price I knew what to look for.
Here are items that just turned that day.

These screw drivers went for $2.53 CHINK!

What does it mean when the date is in the future? All the bags, 12” to 18”, now have clearance tags, but the date is 8/3/17 August 3rd?

Also i found a possible penny deal, but they couldn’t locate the pouches. i walked a few aisles looking at the overhead for the sku but no luck. The associates said someone probably “liberated” them, i.e. pilfered.

On Saturday i went to the another of the 3 local stores, and it was so busy with all these good looking women walking around shopping—i just about forgot why i was there…

Anyway the stores in my area are always busy, which i think means they sell everything way before it gets close to the penny price or even the ‘3’—very little in the way of great deals is seen. i think the odds are better at the stores with less traffic—but at least now i know what and where to search for a possible deal. And i may start driving out to the store with all the bodaciousness…

I had been away traveling for the past 2 weeks. Got a chance to shop quite a few HD’s along the way.
I will post some deals later, but for now there is this.

Pass Through socket set, largest socket is 1 1/4 inch.

Uhm… Wow, nice catch. I have to say that may be one of the best scores found on here.

Would it show that price if you scanned the barcode with the HD app, or do you have to use a store scanner?

Store scanner
Web sites and apps do not show the 6 or 3 prices.
And they don’t show the 4 or 2 prices

Thanks :+1:

My mother in-law bought me a “Home Depot” Lottery ticket.
They say I won $10, but I never saw any of it. :frowning:

Very interesting (never heard of home depot lottery), but without that $10 your forgoing 1,000 penny items

What kind of coin is that in the picture?

Bort, that is a Connecticut State Lottery ticket. It seems that they get a place like HD to give them some money to get their name on them.
Sad that the State has to resort to this kind of stuff.

I don’t know, I never saw that Quarter again either

Actually, I have a better copy of that picture on my phone.
It’s one of these.

I just moved into a new house, been getting a few small things nothing worth posting. Inventory team just sweeped my stores and when they left, half the stores on clearance. So deals coming

i think i saw the inventory team in my store today also, about 4 or 5 folks with carts and scanners moving thru the aisles and putting stuff in their cart from time to time…

They had a scratch and dent husky rolling tool bench that someone sucker punched with a fork lift—they only wanted to come off 20%, so i passed.

my best deal so far was a $299. Ryobi 40V lawnmower that sat out in the garden area for 9 months, i asked about it and they let it go for $25.

WOW! That is a fantastic deal. What battery did it come with?

See, sometimes you just gotta ask for the deal

I got a deal on a 40V Ryobi blower a couple of weeks ago. Not as good as your deal though.
I was in the lawn tool section and spied a box for the blower in the over head with a paper taped to it saying “NO CHARGER”
That blower was originally $169 had been on clearance for $85 for a longtime. There were no others on display so I went up with the UPC code I carry around to check the price in that store. It came up at $85. So I went back and just happened to catch a manager with a couple of other employees as they were walking by. I showed him the box and they pulled it down.
I offered $42.50 without the charger (I have others)
So they scanned it and agreed to the 42.50, but I said wait, lets check to see what’s inside. So I opened it up in front of them and we saw that there was no battery either. To that the manager said “not a problem” and walked over to the display.
At that time I expected him to grab a battery off a demo, but instead he grabbed a new one still in the package.
Then he walked me over to the service desk and told them to “penny out” the battery and sell be the blower for $42.50!
Here is the receipt.
I ended up getting the battery for a penny, the hard way.

Wow, you get those penny deals coming and going—i’m afraid you’re gonna run out of pennies, maybe we should take up a collection for ya…

i just got the bare mower “as is”, no charger and no battery. But then i soon found a 40V weed whacker with 2.6 Ahr battery and charger on craigslist for $50.

Last month i was looking at my local HD and they had the OP4050 5 Ahr battery pack on the shelf in the blister package that was still labelled as OP4026 for $99. i didn’t check the bar code, just grabbed one and hit the checkout line—got home and peeled the cover off and sure enough it had the red LG 18650 HE2 2500 mAh cells. Works twice as long, but i don’t charge them till full—pull them off when the 4th led starts blinking.

Oh yeah i did get some nice dining room furniture for father’s day:
