Finally the XHP70.2 emerges!

Did you get the driver that has the 3 modes plus standby?

can you dedome it too?

I don’t know about removing the dome, but you can easily slice it off.

Digikey has the XHP70.2 in stock now.

Has anyone sliced the dome off one of these yet?

I’m curious if the color gets warmer, how much output you lose and if it still has the yellow corona.

So far everyone that’s shaved the dome on one of these ‘new phosphor’ emitters has gotten reduced intensity and lumen output.
I think ONE person managed to dedome one? Can’t remember for sure.

Yes, same as you got.

Fasttech has the XHP70.2 P2 1A in stock too for $13.16

I’ll wait for the 3A tint though.

How hard are they to reflow? Would the P2 bin 1A be big improvement to a stock Acebeam K60?

Member MEM was able to truly dedome the xpg3 and other new emitters. But it was his trade secret and he’s been absent from here for 8-9 months.

With driver mod, there should be a similar improvement as on the MT07: Haikelite MT07 mods. - #18 by Tom_E

Is that dtp or just copper board?

DTP by the looks of it.
You can see the round cornered rectangular thermal slug stick through the dielectric layer.

Can anyone report out on how the 70.2 performs in the SMO L6 reflector? Any donut hole? Lux?

Thanks.

Thank you Jerommel, I see it now (when I know what to look for) :+1:

No donut hole for sure

I had a donut hole with the 50.2. It’s not so much the gaps between the dies that make the hole, it’s the emitter size. You can mostly make it hard to see if you adjust the reflector depth. It’s not too noticable in outdoor use, unless you shine it on a building side.

You can also try and offset the emitter slightly to get the hotspot smoother.

I think the closer dies on the new emitters make the dark center, less dark compared to the older emitters. I have pictures if you want.

I’m assuming the xhp70.2 will be the same as the 50.2. Less noticable donut hole, but still there.

I posted that a ways back - black hole appears only if within 1 foot from a wall, further than 1 foot - no hole.

I’ve got pictures and video of the donut hole shaped hotspot from the 50.2 in my L6 with SMO reflector if you want me to upload them.

Thanks Tom! I’m sorry I missed that comment. I think I actually remember you talking about that now.
