LUV my UT02 , Now hav a bit more power 5 amps and now a E2 3C LED

From post #532

I tried to replicate this mod but that little resistor was beyond my skilset

Hello, just add r100 to the driver and get about 119000 cd in nw verison with liitokalas 26650 fully charged

I’ve been ondering if there are any weak link components on the origional driver that could be upgraded to reduce the risks of resistor modding? Mitko had a diode blow on one of the early manker models. I tried to prove for more information but was never replied to.

You can upgrade the inductor, the FET, the diode and then do a resistor mod.
That reminds me of the mod i was doing on the MT03… Should pick that up again soon.

If you change the diode and do the resistor mod it should be good to go for years .

It’s better to pot the driver too.

What diode needs to be changed?

You can change the large diode for a low Vf Schottky diode.
You can gain around 0.3 mV that way, but probably not that important for a driver that boosts the Voltage up to 400%
More important for 2x 18650 buck driver for a 6 Volts LED.

Im also interested here.

hav put a 075 resistor on top of the shunt and now pulling 5 amps , heaps better and was Very easy to do

Now i just want to go a bit cooler than NW , Can U guys recommend a better xhp 35 maybe around 6000 tint ?

These are really nice de-domed if your up to the challenge?

You could give them a close Shave and make your own HI too! :+1:

5amps is too much for XHP35?

im yet to mod mine and im very tempting.

do you have any issues after the mod?

UT02 uses a boost driver , 10fp says 5amps draw from the battery :+1:

thanks George.

I want to mod mine right now

do you have a photo where to replace the resistor? just incase i stuff up

found it

I love the UT02 as a host. The (old school) XP-G2 de-domed was one of my favorites!

Pulling over 6amps and throwing over 300kcd it was a laser beam jacket pocket rocket thrower!

But for a Bombastic Boomer I use the XHP70.2 UT02 the most. With the Lexel built T/A Narsil driver, copper driver adapter’s, I then bored the head out for a 32mm Maxtoch board, used a Convoy L6 white switch boot and wired off the driver, with resistors, lighted up the stock e-switch, blue or red, but I liked the red only, for DANGER!

The 70.2 P2 1A at 8+ amps is quite impressive out of this smaller light, nice over all beam with a large Hot spot with this smooth reflector.

Oooo… I like the clear switch boot. Ima havta git me one of them! Did you get the boot from the convoy store? How is the beam looking?

Ask Simon for them, the L6 tail cap white/clear boot.

I like the P2-1A the best so far, less of a brown/yellow corona, ring, then say the B-C’ I have tried. The beam is white, not cold blue-ish, like the P2-1C as is the ample spill. The beam is naturally big, coming out of a short reflector, but it lights up the neighbor across the street back yard/driveway like daylight so it has decent trow for a small reflector. It would make for a nice patrol light, even say half way up the ramp it is more than enough light, but then double click for Turbo, yeah there’s no where to hide!

I’m looking at getting a couple more of these UT02’s if I can find them for the $28-$30 price I got the last 4 at? I found some interesting other 70.2’s at Mouser I want to try out. They describe them as a white/white 5700k and a white/warm 5700k? They are P2 bin but 0E and 40E?

Where’s the best place to find these resistors? They are 0603 resistors correct?

I’d like to join the question…

Woo Hoo, i just fitted a E2 3C led to my UT02 / 5 tail amps, looks real sweeet now
