RAVPower or Anker Car Charger

Their build quality seems decent, so I thought they might be a safer bet then the questionable no-name ones, but of course they are considerably more expensive ($15-25 CAD).

FWIW, I recently bought an Aukey (there was a coupon code on SlickDeals) with a QC2.0 port and it quick charges my Samsung S7. I only paid like $7 and it included a cable on Amazon.

Blitzwooooolf

For cables, I chose Ugreen and I am very happy with them (I also have Blitzwolf and a lot of OEM Cables - the Ugreen seem to charge the fastest - but that’s just my feeling)

Since all Blitzwolf Carchargers were tested “good” by HKJ, I assume, that the BW-C8 is also good (my phone still lives, so…)

Thanks, Blitzwolf seems more economical, so I’ll check them out.

just upgraded to an Aukey 28w solar panel and of the 10 various solar panels I’ve had its the best built.

I have the previous version of Anker's Powerdrive 5 in my car. 40W with 5 ports, been doin' it's thing for about 3 years now without problems. What I like about it is the cable, means I can hide the usb part somwhere under the dash, while plugging the 12V plug into the accessory port.

I started out using Anker until I discovered Blitzwolf. I’ve been extremely pleased with both. Also, from what I’ve seen Aukey and Blitzwolf might share an OEM.

Last Christmas I gave my SIL a small jump starter. After trying to find a good one I got a Bolt Power D28. It had good reviews, and was recommended by CR. http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/jump-starters/buying-guide.htm. Recently they had occasion to use it and it worked as intended. I also got one for myself. Both were bought off Amazon.

It looks good and is tempting but I don’t see it listed under Qualcomm’s Quick Charge Device List

Wonder then if the QC is “mimicked”.

There is no mimicking, anybody can make a QC device when using a QC chip.

Is it/would you recommended then? After all, they don’t get their power banks “certified” by Qualcomm.

You can see in each review what I mean about the chargers. The ones with many ports had one issue, that is that they can deliver very large current on a single usb connector, this can happen when using a defective usb cable and may damage the usb connector and in very extreme cases be a fire risk (The cable has to be damaged exactly right (or is it wrong) and be placed against something easy flammable).

The Qualcomm certificate cost money and do not necessarily give a better product. I will expect everything with a Qualcomm logo probably is certified, even if it is missing from the Qualcomm list.

Thank you for the insightful post.

Would someone provide a link of car chargers tested?
Thanks,
Jerry

I do not have a index of tested car chargers, but they can be found in this list: index of USB equipment

Thanks, I just bought a Belkin, and wish I had bought a Blitzwolf. Your tests are great and make the difference in what many of us choose.

Edit: HKJ, Please excuse my ignorance, but using the Aukey CC-T1 30W Dual Port Car Charger with Quick Charge 2.0 Dual-Port Is there any reason I could not use both or either USB port to charge a tablet? I am not sure why there are two different ports??
Thanks,
Jerry

It is a question about price, a QC outlet is much more expensive than a 5V outlet, any device not requiring the QC part can be used in both and will charge at about the same speed if it can accept the coding.

Multiple outlets often means that you can charge multiple devices simultaneous. In a family that may mean 3-4 phones and a couple of tablets, you need a lot of usb charging connections for that.

Many thanks, HKJ. That is very helpful to one whose abilities here are about like an oak stump.
Best regards,
Jerry

I am a technical person, but I try to explain things in a not too technical way. Sometimes I succeed in it, sometime not and sometimes I publish something that is supposed to be technical.
If you are interested in batteries and chargers my article list may be something for you (Some articles are rather technical): Information
