Lighted Tailswitch

Hello all, maybe you could help me compile a bedside lamp.

Requirements:

  • lighted switch (like BLF X6 / Astrolux S2)
  • other color than black
  • 18650
  • warm-white emitter
  • low low (preferably moonlight)

While this seems a rather natural combination, the actual options are surprisingly limited:

  • Astrolux SS: generally ok, a bit heavy and expensive
  • Convoy S2(+), non colors: only grey, otherwise should work when using KDlight 7135 V4 driver

The following would not fit:

  • BLF X6/Astro S2: ok, but only black
  • BLF A6: driver does not work properly with lighted switch, only black and non-anodized
  • Astrolux S41: driver does not work properly with lighted switch
  • Eagle Eye X2R: driver does not work properly with lighted switch, only grey
  • Astrolux S1: no 18650 tube, driver does not work properly with lighted switch
  • Convoy S2+ colored: metal switch (no fun with lighted switch)

  • Ultrafire WF-501B: different switch design (true for both variants I know of)
  • Jaxman E2: color ok, would need to check driver

As to the drivers, there seem to be only three drivers which work fine with the lighted switch:

  • KDlight 7135 V4 driver: ok
  • BLF-X6 driver: ok
  • Convoy V1 driver 105c: ok

These drivers do not work properly:

  • BLF-A6 / A17DD-L FET+1: does not work properly with lighted switch
  • Convoy V2 7135 driver, new fw: does not work properly with lighted switch

Would appreciate further ideas or suggestions for hosts and drivers !

You are not right.
BLF-A6 / A17DD-L FET+1: does not work properly with lighted switch
This drivers were first that were made to work with lightened switch. For others like kdlight this is just hardware bug.

Well, the two BLF-A6 drivers (7/4 modes - NOT Bistro UI !) I have (one from BLF A6 and one from Astrolux S1) do not work properly with the lighted switch.

Precisely, I then get sort of “next mode memory”, meaning the driver is in the next mode after each off/on cycle, regardless how long I wait.
If there is any cure to this, would be appreciated !

However, the (similar) drivers with the Bistro UI work flawless !

Have you considered a Reylight Pineapple or Ti LAN? Install 1 trit in the tail switch and it is lighted and takes no power! The low is second to none, I have 4 and they are consistent and very reliable.

The new Bistro HD OTSM driver works perfectly with any lighted tailswitch and also no OTC problems when hot

you can color every black flashlight with heat to a golden color

@mattlward: thanks for the hint, the Reylight Pineapple looks great and with the trit that would be a stylish option !!

@Lexel: yes, seen your thread, guess I need some of your drivers … Just coudn’t decide yet, which config.

color every black flashlight with heat to a golden color[/Quote] …oops, as electrical engineer I wasn’t aware of that !!! Need to look into this …

Convoy S2+ Silver is with metal lighted switch OTB. Nice blue light.
But not work with driver with new firmware :frowning:

Here’s a link that helped me with my lighted switch for a FET + 7135 Driver with Bistro:

The first post has all the info you need if you don’t want to read through all of them. You may need to experiment with different values for your bleeder resistor, but in the end it’s worth it.
