Banggood - Is it time to ban them from the forum?

I just told them nicely not to expect a picture or video of light that did not work. Worked fine for me. That step was eliminated.

I don’t mean to be rude but nowadays being technologically challenged also means facing certain situations in life. They’re not asking you to take professional quality photos and videos, just any quick snap or record to demonstrate the problem and to confirm it is not user’s misuse or fault. It can be done in seconds and if you lack a computer you can just send them the pictures via email from your phone or tablet. IMO anyone capable of making an internet purchase is also capable of taking pictures and sending them online.

Again, I believe it’s fair when they don’t require the customer to ship the product all the way back to China. Just my honest opinion.

It’s 2017…why would someone not be capable of taking a picture or video??

In this case, it wasn’t the asking of the pics/vids that was the problem. It was the fact that I explained the issue from the beginning and the csr simply doesn’t care to understand. I’ve sent pics and a video demonstrating the button for the backlight works, just no actual light. Now, the ask is for me to disassemble the meter, remove the PCBs and basically try to find what is likely a nonexistent lose “cable” which is supposed to be powering the backlight and send them pics/vids of the disassembled unit for further troubleshooting. Mind you I reported the issue on day 1 and this has drug on for almost a month, often with a 48 hour delay before I receive a response.

This is not a typical segmented LCD but a rather large dot matrix screen capable of displaying signal waveforms. From my past experience, once you disturb the zebra strip connection to the LCD or whatever other method they might use, the reliability of the display becomes suspect and I don’t want to risk it on a brand new device, which was why I asked for an exchange from the beginning. Alas either the csr or BG policy is trying to force the customer to troubleshoot, disassemble and repair new products.

Like many of you, I’ve had mostly positive experiences with BG in the past with 60 small and large orders in the past few years. This one though, is taking what seems like a small and simple problem/solution to a new level.

Enderman, you are probably to young (just a guess  ) to remember when the VCR first came out. Understanding that would go a long way answering your question…… ….

I purchased many items from Banggood and only had one defective item. I sent them a video which proved I wasn’t trying to take them for a ride and they promptly credited my PayPal account. I have no issues with them.

Teacher, my first VCR was a Sony Betamax back around 1977. I wish I still had it.

I heard that abtglenn. :+1: … I bet you do wish you still had it. I can’t remember what my first one was, but it is probably in it’s box sitting on a shelf in the garage. I rarely throw stuff like that away…… :person_facepalming:

But, did you ever give your parents one for a present; hook it up for them with detailed instructions…… and it still go unused because it was just beyond them?

Yeah, the technology is sure here in 2017…… but there are still a few who basically want no part of it.

My parents bought a VHS recorder back in the 80’s. They could never figure out how to program it. That said, I was at their house more than I was at my own trying to teach them the basics. The moral of this story is I SHOULD HAVE MOVE BACK HOME! What a pain in the ass they were. Don’t get me started on the day they bought an answering machine! LOL!

…and why would you expect Everyone to know, much more upload?

(OT)

Who is your dial-up carrier, speed, and cost?

Are trying to say that cameras have just been invented and therefore nobody knows how to use them?

You don’t need a phone to take pictures and videos. There have been these things called “digital cameras” and “camcorders” and “webcams” that have been around a very long time.

I assume anyone who knows how to use the internet to shop online is also capable of taking pictures and videos, which have been around longer than the internet has.

Many places ask for pictures of videos for evidence.
Some places ask you to cut a cable or destroy your current product in some way and provide proof of it so they know you’re not just trying to get a second one for free.
This is 100% reasonable to ask of someone, and is much better than asking you to send the product back making you need to repackage everything and pay for shipping.
And yes it is certainly possible to upload stuff on dial up, you just compress the images and lower their resolution.

And here is the answer to your original question. You assume to much. :person_facepalming:

Well maybe those people don’t deserve to get a replacement product then, if they’re incapable of such a simple modern day task.
They should stick to buying products from physical brick-and-mortar shops, since they’re apparently still stuck in the 1900s. :person_facepalming:

 …… Priceless…. …… This made me smile………
…………………
Darn Enderman……. :person_facepalming: ….
I have a couple of very financially sucessful friends that would disagree with you.
Believe it or not, some people… whether limited by circumstance as in Ollie’s case or not caring to participate as in the case of my two friends…… have or want no part of the technological advances of “2017”.

So I simply leave you with what I said earlier… quoted below.

Teacher, what I meant to say, I should have moved out of State!

+ 1 …. oh well, he must have forgetten people here belong to different generations.

:smiley:LMAO ….

+2 on that. I lived through that with my parents. They were around the new technology at the time, but they just didn’t care enough to get it.

Wow it’s almost as if you’re trying to use the “too old to use new technology” excuse!
Maybe it would help if I pointed out that people from other generations are capable of using cameras?
I know my parents and grandparents are capable of it…

Point is, if for some reason you’re incapable of using a (not even that new) technology to get a product refund, such as a digital camera, then that’s your fault.
Adapting and learning to use technology is normal, you can’t blame other people if you refuse to use it yourself.

If you go try to get a drivers license and don’t have a phone number or email because you’re still living in 1850, guess what? They’re not gonna give you a drivers license.

You either do what the retailers asks of you, or you don’t get your refund. Simple. you agreed to the terms and conditions when you started browsing the site.
