Hmmm, I could probably figure out a way to generate that data, but itās a bit harder to compile that. But Iām constantly checking my list of users that currently have non-expired rudeness points, and at any given moment itās usually quite a short list (if any), and usually populated by a few repeat offenders.
By knowing who marked you rude will only take the disagreement even further, and will also make people create new anonymous accounts just to mark rude. Not that it isnāt already happening now, but could get worse.
This is logical IMHO, this is on topic talking aboit getting rides in almost any other thread is of topic, generally not positive so bound to get a rude click.
Btw I like the idea of giving a reason when marking something as rude. It makes it a bit harder to do, and gives a good opportunity to Learn if one gets one.
Not a bad idea. It hadnāt occurred to me, so I havenāt given much thought yet to the implications of it. But I do know that on a technical level it would be much harder for me to implement with the available tools and frameworks I have for this forum.
Hi Sb. No problem, I donāt feel as though you have come down on me at all.
It is no secret I am the person with 48 Rude votes, down from 53 I might add.
When I PMād you about this you kindly responded with some directives. I replied that I would make a very conscious effort to comply with those directives. And I have.
Yes, I as well as others do not necessarily like the anonymous system, for reasons statedā¦ā¦ BUT, this is āyour houseā & you set the tone as well as rules.
That is good enough for me. :+1:
How about a system where the first, letās say 4 rude registrations are invisible? This means ānoiseā will be filtered out to the member to avoid a negative experience. If a post is truly rude, it will most likely receive more than 5 rude registrations, and then it will become visible to the poster as a more genuine feedback. Just an ideaā¦
Very good idea, thanks! Not sure yet how difficult that would be technically to implement.
Not always, because eventually a post will disappear if many different users mark it as rude. But it is theoretically possible for a lot of people to load the page at approximately the same time, see the rude post, and mark it as rude before it gets automatically removed.
Diagnosis: āare too!ā āam not!ā exchanged, over and over.
Last time I got a rude point, it was because I expressed an opinion.
I assume whoever dinged that comment did so instead of posting a public response.
For which self-control I thank whoever it was.
I looked and realized, yeah, I could have irritated someone.
Itās a good tool, working well, I think.
