If you do the spring mod (bypass with a wire), the inner spring is not needed, it will not do much. You can just remove it if it is loose already.
Cool thats greatâŚ
QuestionâŚ.Is it possible to do a TEMP mod to check and see if I really need it?
What is soldered can be unsoldered no problem.
Can anyone reminds me what the firmware that came with the A6 called? Bistro?
I believe itâs just called BLF A6 :
Sometimes the answer is in plain sight.
(the code was written specifically for that project, so I named it after the project)
I still think for that specific light, your firmware is just about perfect. If that light is putting out 1500 or 1600 lumens and is triggered by accident in your pocket, 30 seconds step is very much appreciated. Fun fact: my mother in-law saw my a6 sitting on the coffee table and turned it on and didnât see any light so clicked it on off, then looked into the end of it and clicked it again. That was honestly a slow motion train wreck that I had no intention of stopping. Priceless!!
Thanks TK, I love Bistro but the blf a6 and associated mother in-law stunning will forever hold a place in my hall of fame!
As it turns out, the mother-in-law stunning is a pretty well-documented part of that light.
thanks.
lool so true, if i remembered correctly BLF A6 uses attiny13 right so bistro should fit right in?
also got convoy S+ can i put BLF A6/Bistro on in too, i dont like the 3 modes on this flashlight.
I did that to my sister with an Astrolux S41S. I was wearing it on my belt, she was curious about it, so I handed it over. Never even thought about what would happen next.

Once and once only. I simply donât let anyone touch my A6-class lights now.
After all, I have plenty of nice, safe BLF-348s and sub-500 lumen Convoy S2+ lights for them to play with instead
Bistro requires tiny25/45/85, and wonât fit on a tiny13.
BLF-A6 works on tiny13 drivers but requires an offtime capacitor (OTC), and prefers two power channels.
Biscotti works on single-channel tiny13 drivers like Convoy uses (nanjg/qlite/FX-12), with no extra hardware. There are also a bunch of others which work on Convoy drivers, like gchartâs âbabkaâ and _the_âs âTheStarâ.
The âINDEXâ file in the firmware repository has more detailed information on all this.
I see thank you for the explanation.
What size do I need replace the Tail Button and O - rings? (I want to add some GITD coolness)
And what is the âPaper Clipâ mod?
I have small issue here, i want to use BLF bistro driver with lighted tailcap. Is it possible and what kind of mods are required for this to work without problem? As far as i know i need bleeder resistor but is that all?
No problem, no mod
The Bistro has the bleeder resistor
It is the 470R (471) on top, beside to red wire
In the BLF A6 you must add the bleeder resistor
But it does have the NMM with the lighted tailcap, works fine with normal one.
What size do I need replace the Tail Button and O - rings? (I want to add some GITD coolness)
And what is the âPaper Clipâ mod?
Iâm unsure of the o-ring size but the A6 uses 14mm tail caps.

I have one of the above installed and it glows brighter than Convoyâs glow-in-the-dark tail caps.
Hi, my first post.
I recently got 2 A6 from banggood on sale (16⏠I think)
I got the warm and the white version. Now the white verson blinks much slower (strobe, bikeflash, bat check)
I seem to recal reading something about old drivers beeing under-clocked when i did my research, but i canât find it anymore.
Is there a fix? did banggood just dump some old stock on me?
If I would replace the driver, is there a ramping alternative? (I really like the Q8 software)
How much slower?
Itâs normal for the clock speed to vary by up to ~33% or so from one piece to another⌠but if itâs more than that, like if one is running twice as fast as the other, that means they messed up something when flashing the driver.
If itâs a small variation, like 33% or less, itâs probably permanent. If itâs a larger variation, you can probably fix it by reflashing the driver with the correct settings.
The Q8âs software wonât work on it though⌠the A6âs button physically disconnects power, so itâs physically impossible to do the âhold to rampâ thing the Q8 depends on. The closest currently available is Crescendo.

The only driver Iâm aware of which had a batch flashed for the wrong speed was the red Convoy driver. If your driver is red with chips (or pads for chips) on the spring side, that means theyâre putting a Convoy driver into the A6, which theyâre not supposed to do. If yours is yellow and marked A17DD_L, it should be the correct driver.
