Ultimate TRI EDC Brass Now available

Yeah this price adjustment makes this light very appealing. I liked it before, now I’m seriously tempted. Ugh, like I need another light…

Looks great, though out of my price range.

Beautiful light, but way too expensive for my taste.

Added a beam shot to the OP.

In this case, i prefer a pineapple
Or even better, my pineapple

Again, I don’t really disagree. The Pineapple is a great little brass light. But you’re not really comparing apples to apples here (apples to *pine*apples? ). This VOB light is made in the US by a small-batch production facility, (hopefully) with very high standards and abilities using top-shelf stock. And its got a completely different emitter setup being a triple with optic, different switch, etc. The clip he’s using on this light cost over half what an entire Pineapple does…

So yes, I get that there’s more value in the Pineapple. I’ve got a Pineapple and its a good light - a great light for the money. But I have no reservations about ordering the VOB EDC either, because I see the value in what it offers too.

She’s a beauty but the price isn’t all that great for what you get. It’s better than it was to begin with but still excessive. It’s not a Sinner, a Sigma, an Okluma, a McGizmo, an Overready Boss, or a Hanko. I can understand that VOB would like his lights to be established as such but they are not at that point yet. It is a triple that is made out of brass, plain and simple. Maybe the price would have a little more merit if the light was built around a 18650 but since it’s a 14500 based triple, the run time isn’t all that great. Don’t get me wrong, I love 14500s but if I’m going to put that much money towards a light I would want it to have more run time/bigger battery. I’m sure VOB had/has a lot of overhead going into the project as most start out that way but to me it just doesn’t justify the price of the light. I’ve built many triples and minus the host, you’re looking at $35-$45 for parts. So, I don’t want to pay $140-$205 for a brass host. I don’t have an unlimited amount of money like Ozy does :stuck_out_tongue:

18650 triples (and quads) are plentiful. 14500 - I found no other. I view this light as a much more pocketable, though weaker alternative to 18650 pocket-rockets.

Most 18650 triples and quads that are “plentiful” (not customized/modded) are fairly new to the market. I’d say they’ve only started being produced within the last year and a half maybe. Before then, you’d have to build your own or have someone build one for you, now you can just buy one from just about any place that sells flashlights. As the market progresses, I’m sure they’ll become available. The only 14500 triple/quad that can be built that I know of right now is the BLF X5 and the Astrolux variants. I’ve built many.

Ridiculous logic and not how branding/marketing/pricing works.

Same can be said of almost any custom (and plenty production) lights on the market, from $20 Jaxmans to $1200 Hankos

We’ll have to see if it is truly more pocketable. Stated dimensions are not very small.

Frankly, in my personal opinion; I am pretty well shocked & dismayed at the detailed, indepth, un-asked for analysis of the pricing VOB has for his light.

Is this SOP on all sale threads? Hardly……. it is considered rude & off limits. Not to mention against BLF Rules as far as I know.

I am just amazed… and not in a good way.

In my opinion, it is sad the way this BLF member has been treated on this thread of his. :frowning:

Nothing good to say…… why say anything at all???

That is one fine looking light. It’s way out of my price range but there are those who can afford lights like this and if I come across such a person I wouldn’t hesitate to steer them towards this one. It takes a lot of time, effort, money and skill to put together a custom made in USA project like this. Sure it’s not going to fit everyone’s budget but it’s not a crime to ask to be paid for your time. Yes, this is a budget light forum but people here buy Sinner Customs so obviously not everyone here is on such a restricted budget. Nice work Matt. :+1:

This was sort of my line of thinking too. I’ve seen quite a few 18350 and 16340, but I really like the 14500 size. More slender looking

Spot on brother. :+1: 14500 is probably the only size where the market isn’t yet over-saturated (been talking to Simon about that  ) and it does make a very nice light size that’s significantly more pocketable. I’d love to see one of the good lithium cell manufacturers make something with more capacity. I’m also a big fan of the 14500 size.

Just wanted to take a moment and say thank you to everyone for the kind words about my light.

Teacher, Jdub, Ozythemandias, emarkd thanks for the support.

I knew coming into this that price is and always will be KING at BLF :) I chose to post here because there is still a minority that can both afford and value a light such as this.

First of all, my post wasn’t pointed towards VOB, it was pointed towards other comments that were already made in the thread that were trying to justify the price. Absolutely nothing rude was said and I don’t feel that it was rude to state my reasoning just as others were stating theirs. However, if you feel that marking another one of my posts as rude makes your day better, by all means…mark away!!

Jdub said it best….
It is a very nice light.
I personally can’t afford it.
Even if I saved my pennies to buy I certainly could not afford to loose it, therefore I can not afford to ever Use it.
Built a few Astrolux SC Copper Quads and the 14500 run time is disappointing.

I never singled you out… I made a blanket statement of “my personal opinion” about how I felt VOB was being treated in his sale thread.
If I marked your post rude… you would know it.

Awesome light and nice to have seen the videos about it.
I hope it sells well.
And yes as a US made and designed light in excellent finish and materials I do think it can be compared to the before mentioned brands.

Bump. Hey VOB any updates on this light? I know its not supposed to be done for a while now, just wondered how (or if) things were progressing?
