What are the top 10 signs .."You might be a Flashaholic"?

It (the D4 with 18350 tube) is pretty small though, so some dreams do come true.

What is the diameter of the D4? I’d expect that even with a 18350 tube, it might be a bit thick and clunky for key ring use.

But hey, patmurris, it was quite a while back that Dale had his Texas Poker AAA light reaching over 1k+ lumens OTF. With today’s emitters, it might not be long before 2k+ lumens OTF is possible from a build or mod. Especially now that some of the smaller cells are trending upward in both capacity and current handling. If/when that “bump” reaches the 10180, there won’t be anything left to stop us from getting 2k+ in a light the size of a BLF 348!

EDIT: Just now looking at the CREE PCT I think it might already be possible, with a XHP50.2 K4 bin wired at 6V, and a couple 10180, in a AAA-size light. The relatively low Vf compared to 2S Li-ion might push output over 2A, right at the edge of ~2k lumens.

One collateral feature is it will also work as a windproof cigarette lighter!

Copper BLF A01, XHP50.2, 2x10180, no driver?… Would the led fit the head?

Damn those are obvious AFS symptoms! :person_facepalming:

-When you’re arrive home at weekend with a new flashlight and your mother says “another one?”!
-When you carry a backpack just to bring 1 or 2 flashlights when going to the beach…during daylight!
-When the family asks you to order them new flashlights!
-When you have 2 flashlights on your bedside and use them instead of the room lights!
-When you clean (vacuum clean) your house using at least 3 flashlights to see the dust and clean it!
-When you talk so much about flashlights, and you buy them, that…your girlfriend makes a strip for you, in a dark room, just using a flashlight on the lowest mode

- you think about the lights you have in the mail before falling asleep, smiling at the thought that one may show up tomorrow.

I don’t know. But, CRX made a MT-G2 fit into a BLF-348 and put 2x 10180 cells in there, with no driver.

May i ask what came out of it?

Nah, too easy :stuck_out_tongue:

• You struggle with an unfitting diffuser on your favorite tinted light to use it as a bedside light when there’s a perfectly usable desk lamp there, hidden under a centimeter of dust
• You wash the dishes after midnight just to have an excuse to enjoy some ceiling bounce without someone else in the house complaining that it’s dark or turning on the lights without you asking (and thinking they’re doing you a favor)
• Your home come twilight/dusk has no lamps on at all because you’re using your torch(es), so to an outsider it looks like there’s nobody home

All of these are true for me, and have been since May or so

Easy:
You are a flashaholic once you start browsing flashlight forum’s.

(Yes BLF, I blame you! :smiling_imp: )

You mean lumens? I don’t recall if he ever said. In fact, I’m not sure he even has a way to measure. But, according to the CREE PCT it would have had to get around 2.6A to reach over 2000 emitter lumens. I doubt it got that with just a couple of 10180’s, but I can’t say for sure that it didn’t.

Buying another light that you already own because you got a Great deal on it.
Buying another light that you already own because it has a new color body.
Buying another light that you already own because a new driver upgrade with no strobe or no PWM or new firmware.
Buying another light that you already own to make a DD Triple/quad out of it.
Buying another light that you already own to make Another Triple/Quad with high CRI.
Buying another light that you already own because there is a Copper version.
Buying another light that you already own because there is now a SMO reflector version available or vice/versa.

Yeah, I have Multiples of Several of the same lights.

I am a real Sucker for Amazon Deals on flashlights. Not sure if its the almost instant gratification of getting the light in 2 days or the fact of getting the Great deal on it. Like a Solarforce K2 for $8 shipped Prime for example. I had to buy 2. Or the latest one, Glaree E03 AAA for $5 that is just too similar to a Thrunite. Very nice for a $5 light. Liked it so much I now have 10 of them in several colors. Good gift lights, really…. they are gift lights…

A really Good friend is an auto mechanic. He has a customer that works for Streamlight and gets some of their products left with him on occasion.
I see that as competition…. I give my buddy lights that are cheap (in comparison) and still kick butt. I make it a point to show in detail all the aspects of these lights so it can be relayed to the Streamlight guy. Look no proprietary battery. no plastic lens that gets fogged over from solvents. See how Bright it is and how natural the tint is? Yeah that one was $12 and has a built-in USB charger (EE X2R). Your replacement Plastic lens cost 2X more. In hopes to get them to change their ways. :smiling_imp:

Guilty to most of the previous posts.
If I have my backpack, and usually do, there are about 5 lights on my person. Plenty of batteries for them all and a 4X18650 power bank with a cool ramping LED wall of light.

Guilty as charged with a Convoy S2 in hand  But then, how can you pass up on Biscotti when you know how inconvenient the old 3/5 firmware is for short bursts (on-time memory and the blinky on low)?

Yep, yep, yep, nah, yeah, for sure, uh huh, kinda, definitely.

Final score on Firelight’s test: 7.5/9, or 8,33. Severe flashaholism.

Fixed it for ya.
A little more reasonable and still makes us all guilty.

(I’ve said this before)

When the PWM from natural sunlight is noticable and annoying.

11. you got light for review because the sellers contact and ask you

Great post, thank for sharing. I like it

damn, I bought more than 10 within the last 3 months and on the list for 2 Q8s.

Here is one: Secretly hoping the power goes out so I can show my wife all the powers of those flashlights I’ve been purchasing.

Or not so secretly.

A few years back, we had water pouring into the basement where I work, and there was danger of that shorting out the mains, so FD cut the power to the whole building. Of course, it was still morning, and the company wasn’t about to send everyone home if the power might be back on in an hour or two, so we were kinda stranded at work ’til either quitting time or ’til the power’d be flicked back on.

Wellp, the Pb-acid powered emergency lights did an admirable job lighting up the hallways… for a coupla hours. Then, it was black. No windows, no glimmer of light from the outside, nothing.

Back then, I was the only one who had any flashlight at all, my 2×AA modded Taskforce light. Everyone had his paw out wanting to borrow my light to go to the can down the hallway, and nfw was I going to let anyone take my light in there and sully it. I was amazed, that in a company full of techies, not a single one had ANY light.

Seriously, I want another blackout, just to be able to light up the whole hallway with 1000lm of goodness.

(Even our IT dept, NO ONE has a flashlight. They borrowed mine to look into a drop-ceiling a week or so ago. I pointed ’em at a few lights I have but no longer use, either to buy for the dep’t or personally, practically half what I paid for ’em, or was willing to point ’em to a supplier if they wanted new. Not a word. Just crickets in the background.)

I want blackness. Darkness. Citywide, middle of winter, sundown at 16:30 dark by 17:00, black. That’ll learn ’em…
