CRX Apollo Light

Nice.
Apollo One ?
Did you consider using an orange peel reflector ?

Very nice.

Nice, but if you go through a development process and produce Apollo 2, Apollo 3, etc, remember to stop at Apollo 12. We wouldn’t want you to go out at night to test moonlight mode, have it blow up in your face, and barely make it back alive.

Nice one! It looks very elegant, in a simple way.

It has a light orange peel reflector, all I had to hand.

:+1:

 I think this will be the only one.

Sweet. Mission accomplished.

I’m still thinking about something for the head, where the knurling rings should be, maybe a couple brass olives or similar.

Well, one of the things I like about this light is the consistently smooth, shiny finish all over. But, if you want it to look more like the original, then go for it!

I have an XML2 High CRI emitter, is like 2300k or something, would be perfect for this.

Or you can run it 2x10400 and a 3000 xhp50.2 for fun

Yeah I was thinking about it last night, leaving it plain or maybe some rings cut in something like the OL light?

Don’t encourage me
The thought had crossed my mind but I’m trying to use up some drivers, emitters & stuff I already have sitting here. I think the PK paladin driver will work from two alkaline/ NiMH cells too, will check that later.

You could add a texture band or two to the head so it looks more similar to the original. FWIW, I like the silky smooth look but being a twisty, I can see that being troublesome for operation.

Yeah I had to use a slightly smaller less tightly fitting o-ring as it was difficult to operate.

Or you could give it more grip by sticking some velcro to the head like the original! No, please don’t do that. Another great flashlight CRX.

Thanks mate, yeah no velcro

So it runs fine on two AAA eneloops too, got one hour out of it on high mode 390lm, low is 18lm on those.
The single 10440 runs it for about 45mins on high down to 3v and four hours to 3.7v on low.
I might just keep the loops in it.

Great ! It looks so small

Funny, it actually looks bigger than the dimensions it is, I’ve measured it twice, still 5&1/4 inches long (the light)

Magnificent!
By using TIR optic, it would look more authentic.

Good point, I didn’t think of that :+1:

Pretty. But I liked it better before. :expressionless:
