Compact 1xAA Zoomies

I’d be interested in what people come up with too. I personally don’t know of any current products like this, although I’ve bought some in the past that are now discontinued.

You can take a look here:

Yep, the UKing ZQ looks very similar to the Meco.

I bet the build quality is also similar.

Yeah, looks the same to me.

I generally don’t like zoomies, but I did get a super-cheap Sipik clone (this ) awhile ago.

It isn’t bad, especially for the price. (I think it was only a couple of bucks.) You’re certainly not going to get 600 lumens on a AA; it is closer to 55 lumens on a AA. You can run it on a 14500 for higher output.

It’s pretty small. Not as small as 1xAA lights like DQG or Zebralight. But, I’d say it’s compact.

There are plenty of similar lights. Just look for Sipik or SK68 clones. They’ll run off a AA for modest output, or a 14500 for higher output. Usually have 1-3 modes, depending on model. They’re cheap, so don’t expect them to last a lifetime, but they’re good for lights you might lose (or kids might lose).

That's not a Sipik SK68 clone, but it is very popular in this very thread.

Oh, okay. What are the differences between that and a Sipik clone?

SK68 looks like this:

EDIT: Better shot here:

Hello, Raccoon city,
In my opinion of most of cheap multi-modes AA LED flashlights, you can bypass “Multiple modes, disco modes or Next Mode Memory.” by parallel a resistor (~100K Ohm) on driver board’s capacitor. Actually, resistor will discharge the capacitor very quick after turn OFF the light, so it will only turn ON in 1st mode.
Just remember to choose a flashlight will turn ON at highest for 1st mode.
Hope it helps.

The XTAR WK007 is a good AA zoomy. Has memory, and disco modes are hidden.
My review is here: Review WIP: XTAR WK007 (Zoom, AA/14500)
(Still need to finish runtime tests and outdoor beam shots).
Starts to significantly dim after 65mins on high using NiMH AA.

Looks like it has a nice build quality...

but I don't know about that UI.

Decent UIs are somewhat lacking in the compact zoomy department. The XTAR has one of the better ones, but is far from perfect.

I don’t know if the lumens specs are really accurate…but, this seems to look a bit like what you want!
AA, just ON / OFF (at least no other indications of modes), zoom.

Maybe you can contact the seller to ask if the it is really on/off

Hope this helps!

Looks promising.

Here's the same flashlight on Amazon:

https://www.amazon.com/SecurityIng-Zoomable-Waterproof-Adjustable-Flashlight/dp/B010UQDP0A

Good for those in the U.S.

raccoon, are you going to get one of those? I’m interested in knowing if it’s a decent quality host or not.

I probably will the next time I order something from Amazon, but I don't know when that will be.

And here's the flashlight on eBay...

From China:

From Kentucky:

EDIT: Should I pay an extra $2 to get it from the U.S.?

UPDATE: I made an offer on the China auction.

It sure does
Somehow, the “SecutiryIng” (or Securitylng) seem to have some cool lights! Gotta take a look at them

I guess you’ve noted but those from Ebay are 3 modes (eventually High-Low-Strove, as usual…) .
The one I sent the link seems to be 1 mode only!
I sent a message to the seller asking if it is really just 1 mode and if it takes 14500 batteries as well!
When they answer me, I’ll let you know if you want it! :+1:

It surely takes more time to be delivered than those from Amazon or even Ebay, but if it does make the difference in terms of the UI, or quality…I don’t know if you’d be willing to give it a try

BTW, DavidEF, I’ll probably get one, depending on the seller’s answer. If it is a 3 mode, I’ll pass :arrow_right:

The sellers might be thinking that On/Off, Zoom In, and Zoom Out make three modes.

That's what I'm hoping.
