The 5th Annual BLF / Old Lumens Scratch Made Light Contest

Unfortunately, I donā€™t have access to tools this year. But I am looking forwards to following all your builds!

Lame excuseā€¦ In that case you can do it with bare hands and get extra points!

Your right. Unfortunately times short. Iā€™m not sure whether to build a light I may finish or one I wont finish when l get a start. :person_facepalming:

My thread for the 2017 OL comp build.

All the best to everyone that has entered. Iā€™m really looking forward to your builds.

Great! We are looking forward to your build too. Machine made?

Yes. Machine made. :+1:

Iā€™m going to try and get one entered this year. Even though Iā€™m not planning on using a mill or lathe, or any precision cutting machines, I think Iā€™m going to end up in the machine made category.

Iā€™ve just spent the last 1/2 hour on my build with an angle grinderā€¦. not much precision there either :cowboy_hat_face:

Good to see another entrant. Thereā€™s still two months to go, plenty of time to get a build going!

Do it! You never fail to impress. :+1:

Best wishes to everyone who is working on an entry!

I might be able to come up with a little something this year in the hand made category

Thanks for joining in the fun. It matters little what you use to build your light. Its just good to challenge yourself with whatever you have and we all enjoy watching the processes we go through.

Iā€™ll give it a shot this year too.
No ideas yet thoughā€¦

Good to see you in the mix again, Jerommel :+1:

Iā€™m seriously winging it this time - Iā€™ve spent more time failing on a particular part, itā€™s not funnyā€¦& I have to spend more time posting up the string of failureā€¦ :person_facepalming:

Just in case anyone missed the link added in the first post, I am in and my build link is located here.

Is it possible to enter the OptoFire build I finished a few months ago into the hand made category?

Or does the flashlight need to be specifically built from the start for the competition?

You need to start building after the competition starts, not a previously made light.

Oooh I see, I thought it started after the previous one ended so you had a year to build.
Never mind then

Donā€™t give up so easily. You can still enter and build something new. We have excellent sportsmanship in this ā€œcontestā€. We help each other if needed. Donā€™t be afraid to ask for help, or even for spare parts. Several of us have plenty of those too. :person_facepalming:

That was just me that didnā€™t stop building lights after last years comp

+1

Not in two months time :frowning: I still need to finalize my 3d design and budget.
Also I need to check if my design is patent-able and possibly hire a patent attorney to check that it hasnā€™t been created already.
Once it is patent pending (or I find out it canā€™t be patented) then I will be able to make forum posts about it
So maybe for next yearā€™s competition it will be readyā€¦
