So many people are complaining about how hot the light gets, and it has a user configurable thermal sensor…
Why doesn’t anybody use it to make it not burn your hand?

Thanks for the info. I am wondering the classification of D1, D1S and D7, correct me if I am wrong,
So D1 is a small sized balanced light, not as much throw as C8,
and D1S is going to have a bit more throw than D1,
and D7 is going to be a flood light like D4, but with 7 emitters.
Are there any plans on other Dx?

Added a little DC FIX to mine and the partial squareness is almost entirely gone and it’s a tad bit floodier. My approximating shoebox doesn’t see any more light loss than whatever 1 of my “calibrated” lumens is worth at 100% 7135. I also tried melting/burning it off with repeated turbo runs with no failures. Now I can hold off from buying more optics for the time being.

I picture the D7 being very reminiscent of the DQG Tiny. As my anticipation heightens I’m hiding my credit card.

Yes, D1 and D4 tubes are interchangable, meaning D1 can also use the 18350 tube to become a tiny thrower.
D1 around 40Kcd, 1*XP-L HI, ultra small body, slightly bigger than D4 as it can be seen above, true all arounder for size and throw
D4 around 120Kcd,1*XP-L HI, excellent throw, small body

D7 is using 7*LED and 3*18650

Same UI on all D series from Emisar

I’d call D1 a pocket thrower. Less throwy than D8, but much smaller.
D1S is 110 kcd, so just a small thrower.
D7 has 7 emitters and 3 18650s, most likely very floody, though if they keep the styling (head significantly larger than body), it could be throwier than D4 (w.r.t. beam profile, not just intensity). I haven’t seen any pictures or written details, so this is a wild guess.
I’m not aware of any other Emisar lights in the pipeline. I’d love to see some zoomies. And 21700 battery tubes…

I posted this recently over at the “What did you mod today” thread. Thought I should also post it here, since this is the D4 thread.

I went ahead and modded first custom firmware, for the Emisar D4.

Very simple stuff (not like I have the knowledge to do anything fancy). I just removed the mode memory, (Or rather, it always remembers the same level) and now, a single click will always take me to full 7135 power (125 lumens). This way, I always have access to moonlight (long press) medium (single click) and turbo (double click). And if I need any other mode, the ramping is still there, right after moonlight. Basically, I don’t like not being sure about what my flashlight will do once I press a button, so I dislike memory mode. So now, I have the best of ramping UI (being able to choose any specific brightness I want) and the advantages of discrete modes (easy to get to certain pre-defined levels).

Took a few tries, but luckily, my driver testing setup worked well enough.

I also changed the led leads from 22awg to 18awg. It had no effect on the output, according to my “approximating sphere”.

Now, I’m trying to find a way to remove the tailcap pcb, so I can place a magnet there. With some luck, a 1mm or 1.5mm magnet will have enough strength to hold the D4 up, which is the biggest magnet I figure will actually fit in there.

Does anyone know if there’s plans to make a similar light in a larger body with bigger reflector? Hopefully with added heat sinking people with delicate baby soft hands like me can use it without welding gloves on.

I asked the same question. It seems (did not look above :person_facepalming: ) there is definitely a D7 coming 3x18650. My question is more of a DQG Tiny 26650 III size (but a little bit longer to avoid the issues shortness causes) so maybe with support they will go for a D? like we keep asking about?

I epoxied a pretty thick and strong magnet to the outside of the tailcap. Not as clean looking as CRX’s magnet inside the tailcap, but it works for me.
