I received the xp-g2 5d2 4000k and a Nichia 219c 5000k. I much prefer the xp-g2 5d2 over the 219c. The 219c gets hotter and steps down way faster and bigger steps than the xp-g2. The small gain in brightness isn’t worth the added heat in my opinion. The tint of the xp-g2 isn’t pure white but it is below the black body line with a slight rosy hue which I love, especially with night adjusted eyes. I liked the 5d2 tint so much I ordered 3 more quad boards. One to swap out the 219c’s in my green emisar and two more to play with in other lights.
Just got my xpg2 3d today. Love this little green hulk.
Found I had to set the temperature higher on mine as I like to hover between 600 to 1000 lumens and thermal management was dropping me below 600 lumens after just a short time of use.
Now with it adjusted I am very happy with this purchase.
Do you mean the offset star? That’s a replacement star for the LEDs to sit on where each LED is rotated at a different angle so the corona is much more even and not square.
The offset star replaces the stock star. They use the same optic.
You can buy the offset star at Mountain Electronics
Is there a clip that works with this light? About to order two of them
I want to be able to strap it to my hat with the 18350 tube. Also will the s4 3D be a good choice?
Lost lumens going to the 319 but the color is a soft eggshell white and profile is nice, I think it’s worth the loss as the amperage went down as well.
No lights on, blinds closed so it’s pretty dark in the room…. you can see behind the elk on the clock that there’s a discoloration in the center of the hot spot…
This rather awkward shot at the 1’ square white ceiling tiles (styrofoam, pure white) shows the dark center and some oddity to the color’s in the peripheral… all in all not bad but too similar to the XP-G3 for my tastes.
Sorry, these are on my new iPhone SE, too crippled up to use a real camera and get down on the ground for the ceiling shots.
Someone posted a pic or maybe it was a link, of a nice holster for the d4, can’t seem to find it in this massive thread… It had orangeish stitching and a nice texture material.
