[PART 1] Official BLF GT Group Buy thread. Group buy officially closed! Lights shipping.

Thanks…you’re right…the Miller has 3 light projects going and I’m on all 3…

Just looked in on this thread for the first time in months after getting numerous email alerts asking me to check that I am on the list.
I am & in the first 550 :+1:
DHL will mean me paying an extra $40 on top of the $111 here in the UK as DHL charge an admin fee on top of the 20% VAT we have to pay so I will be going with the “other” shipping option
Looking forward to this light & the Q8 group buy I am in :+1:

As I said above I haven”t been following this thread :person_facepalming:
What are the best cells for the GT please ?

Large capacity cells I’d say, amps draw is not high and you’ll need voltage to sustain regulation.

Sony vtc6
Samsung 30q
Edit; wrong thread
The Q8 needs button top cells, but solder blobs do the job well (see Tom E his pictures above)
Panasonic ncr18650ga also will work fine, since you only need 2,5 A

You may have missed it, LT will be offering a deal to buy 8 of there own brand cells with the light.

Which is nice.

We cannot buy Liion from China, except of the 4pcs samsung inr18650 30q button top, with protected box, which I ordered today after a post from BLFer Elvic.
Unfortunately, there is not such an option for the Panasonics. If some guy can communicate with some of the BG staff,it could be possible to sell Panasonics with the protected box.
Edit.
Which type of batteries should be used, button top,or flat top?

There is one eBay.com seller(neobattery) from Greece who sells and ships batteries to most places in EU I think.
I have ordered from him couple of times and shipped within a week to Finland.

OK,I”ll try.

Theodore41 this is the seller who at least ships batteries inside EU.

neobattery | eBay

maybe I can help,I can send the battery worldwide

The GT will work with pretty much any cells, I have been using some laptop pulls with good results in the prototype.

The 30Q will maintain full regulation a bit longer but GA’s will last longer overall. I would not stress out too much over the cells.

Giggles cell carriers have been updated with polarity protection. By default you will need button top cells or solder blobbed cells.

The protection can be removed if you truly want to use flat top cells and are willing to accept the risk though. Even I am going to leave it in place, it is just too easy to be absent minded and pop a cell in backwards without thinking.

Better to have a safety net in place just in case.

Personally I would pick Panasonic GA’s for Giggles, they are my go to cells for everything. If you could arrange for these to be sent with the GT that would be great.

I found a new mail to US
they said a week to US, I sent several packages to US,waiting for result

Since nobody has tried this before so one could only guess. If the XHP70.2 is driven to 6000 lumens, I would say the the light could possibly produce 250~300kcd (1~1.1km). The throw is still impressive not to mention that with the 6000 lumens output it is just a different kind of monster. I used to owned one of these generic 85W HID flashlights purchased from Aliexpress and the throw is about 200kcd, so this BLF GT will beat these HID flashlights in every way despite that the GT has a much bigger reflector.

And with sliced dome, >400kcd maybe?

I was also thinking around 1000m of throw for the xhp70.2 but like you said, it is purely a guess at this point.

My Convoy L6 with a XHP70.2 P2 3B and SMO reflector does 195 kcd, but pushed hard at about 18A and 8,200 lumens @30 secs, 9,000 @turn on. Driven at lower amps in a GT, would hope it would do at least 250 kcd.

Fun, isn’t it Tom?

boy, after 30 secs in the PVC light box, it's freak'n hot! But if it ain't hot, it ain't fun!

Hhhmmm, just like my peppers. The Carolina Reapers are getting close now, many full size, just not red yet.
