Hurricane Harvey-Tropical Storm Harvey, prayers needed

I’m sending positive vibes from Long Island, NY to all those affected on the coast of Texas. I pray no lives will be lost.

I have family in Houston and been praying for them as well,as everyone else in the path of this monster storm. Let’s hope it settles down quick and the damage is minimal.

I’ve been praying for you guys down there and will continue to.
Stay safe and God bless.

Ps I hope your healing and pain from the surgery is improving as well.

Consider it done, Brother.

I know they always like to talk about worst case scenario’s, and that’s probably the way it should be, but it’s looking like if there was any way for a storm this size to make landfall and do a “least-case-scenario” that may well be what’s happening. It appears to have sandwiched in between heavily populated areas and did not reverse course, did not head towards Houston, so a lot of rain is falling and a lot of flooding issues but the worst case scenario may have been avoided.

Attribute this to what you will, luck or divine intervention, whatever. From what I’m seeing, as bad as things are for a whole lot of people, it sure could have been a Lot worse… still ongoing, ain’t over til it’s over…

I’m glad to hear it’s relatively mild. I hear there was one storm-related death and some property damage, and they’re expecting nonstop heavy rain for a few days… so flooding seems like it’ll be the biggest problem.

I hope it will continue to be as mild as possible.

Rockport and Aransas Pass got a lot of property damage, large AC units blown off roofs of commercial buildings, a school building destroyed, but by and large yes, the flooding is the bigger issue and the worst of it is due overnight and into/thru tomorrow.

Watching it close, expecting a lot of rain here overnight, but not anywhere near what South Central and South East Texas are getting.

Good wishes for all those in Texas. Stay safe

Tornadoes have been popping up on the NorthWest side of Houston. Yuck!

Well said, DBC. Prayers going up! Saint Medard, pray for us!

Had one about 1 mile from my home, luckily it missed us, phew! Feel sorry for the people that have their homes damaged

The Weather Channel has been saying that Harvey would about face back to the coast then turn around again and head towards Houston. By all accounts so far it is simply slow drifting from North of Victoria straight towards Houston. The Eastern rain bands will be pummeling Houston all night and local street flooding is already happening. The weather service reported that 84 flood gauges between San Antonio and Houston all expected to set record flood levels by 5PM tomorrow night. So the entire Houston area, which is enormous, is very likely to face flooding issues throughout the night and into tomorrow night, possibly beyond.

I’ve been watching the radar and they’re showing rain from this tropical storm almost filling the triangle between San Antonio, Houston and D/FW…. I-35, I-10, I-45…. this is a truly massive area to be under one storm! Even bands into LA are causing problems with our neighbor.

So still, even without the major storm damage of a Cat 4 Hurricane, there are millions in jeopardy as water levels rise and tornado’s continue to be spawned.

The last I heard, one man had lost his life in a fire caused by the Hurricane. (a transformer exploding, most likely, from a downed pole) We can just continue to hope it’s only property and not lives….

Houston is getting hammered by the rain, most if not all creeks are over flooded, most highways are shut down and there are high water rescues on some places, it’s going to be bad for Hustonians, as OP said keep us in your prayers

DB, may I sugest to rename this thread to Hurricane Harvey check-in or something similar so BLF users who live in the affected areas can stop by and let us know if they are OK?

Thanks!

Pray for you guys in Texas. Stay safe guys and good luck.

I just saw on TV the heavy damage brought about by Harvey particularly in Garland, Texas, where my friend Saabluster lives.

I am hoping and praying everyone in Harvey’s path are ok and can manage to go back to their feet when it’s over.

Here are some local websites covering this catastrophic event…

http://www.chron.com

Some of you may not remember, but manxbuggy1 and his brother rdrfronty live down that way. As does robo819. We have quite a few forum family members getting caught up in all the flooding and possible tornado’s so yes, please continue to keep the folks in South/ SouthEast Texas in mind…. as well as Louisiana.

If the people there that stayed and rode it out would stay chill and not get impatient it would probably help, there are a LOT of rescue personel out and about trying to assist those that are stranded. Best wishes to all those that have to leave their families and go out in the storms to help people that couldn’t or wouldn’t leave for high ground…

I really can’t imagine what you guys are going through.
Thank God we don’t have those storms around here…

Best wishes for everyone down there!

Thanks a lot for these local links.

Wow, this is NOT good….
