What did you mod today?

How did you get the switch retaining ring out? What did you have to do to make the button recessed?

I used a very thin flat head screwdriver to slip under the bezel and twisted to raise it a bit then pryed until it popped off, gotta be careful not to press on the switch when prying.

For the recessed switch I cut three pieces of GITD tape to size, punched two in the centre with a 7mm punch and stuck in the hole then placed a 1.5mm round piece of gorilla tape on the momentary switch and put the last GITD disc on top, filed down the underside of the steel bezel a little then put some silicone around the inside edge of the switch well and pressed the bezel back in place then finally an 8mm disc of black stickyback plastic in the centre to create the glow ring.

Nicer feel to it now with the excess play removed and your thumb sits nicely in the bezel to operate the switch.

Very nice CRX!

Ordinary cheap SK68 clone + AL adapter + 17650 battery = almost 3x 14500 working time.

I know of two threads that describe how to post photos...

but the threads themselves all have PhotoBucket photos...

which are down.

Maybe you can figure it out from the text?

Thank You!

You're welcome, and I'm glad you figured it out.

NarsilM V1.0,Ramping TEST

Chinese:

Lot of nice working going on around here these days. Nice to see…

And, feeling like a kid again, it’s so neat to watch as this lil beauty converts the energy of a light I built through photosynthesis on a daily basis, growing like the proverbial weed.

And soon, the glorious result… the hottest pepper in the world! (technically the dragon breath is hotter, but it was cultivated for medical use and is not available to the public)

Don’t it just make your mouth water gazin at it? :smiling_imp:

Oh, and more technically, it originated with Pucker Butt Pepper company as a cultivar, TP22B.

Finally

Thanks for Tom E, JasonWW……

Inspired by this thread  not as neat as made by everyone here but very happy with the result.

I made a triple Nichia VG10 and Convoy L6 XHP70.2 TA fet with SMO reflector. The measuremebts are in my google tables.

Ooch, is it an Oslon square ?

No, those are nice 4000K 80 CRI XP-L2’s. I still have to find out if one just burned, or that the tight fit in the Carclo decapitated it. I can’t recall having put any pressure on the leds and once the legs of the optic are well in the holes there should hardly be any movement possible. Still got 2300 lumen out of the two remaining leds :person_facepalming:

I thought you were individually switching them on.

Fixed that for you.

Found 3 original Milwaukee 18V NiCd batteries in a recycle bin while visiting a buddy in CT. All were dead, under one volt. Housings are lightly used and really nice condition. Tried to charge them on the Milwaukee charger and one did not do anything but blink. Tried to Zap them back with 36V pulsing for a few seconds and then charged with my balance charger. One looked promising and showed 18V but after a couple days it was about 6V. Out of the 3 packs (45 cells) I may have 16 cells at 1.2V. Not really worth it to rebuild a pack with the old used cells.

Ordered 30 sub c Tenergy 2200mAh nicd cells and rebuilt 2 of the packs today.
Charged up on the balance charger and both holding at 20.3V.
I prefer to use the nicd’s in my 1/2in drive impact because they got more sack.
May build the last pack with some NiMh 3800mAh for the drill, screw gun, sawzall, etc.
In the past I have rebuilt one of the original 18V nicd packs with 4300mAh Nimh but it was a really tight fit, did get it done though.
Do have the M18 XC lithium packs but not a fan. Not impressed with the sack in the impact, overall runtime and just shutting off on low voltage.
Certainly won’t pay the $130 for a 9.0.
NiCd rebuilds cost me $32ea for the 15 cells in the pack. About the same cost of a cheapo 2000mAh that prolly has short lived 1500mAh cells.

Thank you TK
