Review Olight PL-2 Valkyrie XHP35 pistol light!

This light was provided by Olight! Please check out the Olight 10th Anniversary Sale!

Ok, so I shoot often and a lot. But I have never been a fan of anything other that a C8 rifle mounted or a C8 or P60 off hand hold. But, this little guy has changed my mind. I have always felt that most dedicated pistol lights were just to weak to be of much use, not this one!

Carton front, back and the light!… all the important details!

This light comes with 2 mounting rail adapters, one for the 1913~~???~~ and one for the Glock. I think that they really mean 1911! I mounted this light on an FN 5.7 and Rock River AR15 for testing. Texas Shooter taught me something… the rail Picatinny rail is indeed the MIL-STD-1913 rail!

The light mounts solidly and I would not worry about it coming loose.

This light is a little different that other pistol lights! Olight managed to stuff 2 CR123A’s or optional RCR123’s into a light driving an XHP35! They chose to use a TIR rather than a conventional reflector and lens. Personally, I think this was a great choice!

My personal carry is a Springfield XDS and I have not found a useful light for it, but for a normal sized pistol or even an AR this is a great little light.

And yes, we each checked and verified it was unloaded. My daughter loves this pistol and brandishes it well!

Target illumination at around 30 feet, it was still very dusky when this photo was taken. The skeeters were thick!

The 2 buttons in the following photo control the light. Tap either one for a constant on light, hold either one for a momentary light and press both together for a ridiculously bright continuous strobe!

I really enjoyed working with this little pistol light! I actually had the most fun with it mounted on the Rock River AR, it netted me 1 dead skunk the first night! I have not decided whether it will stay on the AR or will find a home on my Springfield 1911, but either way it has a home! This is the first true pistol light that I felt had enough output to be a very useful tool. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for an application specific light in this class!

Thanks Matt

Could you give us a beam shot? One with a wall and a human size target at different ranges.

I could, but it will be next weekend. I only have a place to work with guns on the weekends.

Very nice review. I have been looking at the PL-2 valkyrie sense it came out. My TLR-2 crapped out on me a while ago and for 330.00+ dollars it was not worth it. Thank you for the review.
