Thrunite Tn42 Batteries

Hi everyone im new to the site having just joined. I have a question about batteries for the Thrunite tn42. Im in the UK and when i bought the light of amazon uk it didn’t come with any batteries. Im looking for the best batteries for the light but am a bit confused about which battery to choose. I would like a battery that will deliver the brightest and longest run time and produce the maximum throw. I was considering the Panasonic NCR18650B Li-Ion 3400 mAh protected. Amazon.co.uk. and the Samsung 30Q 15 A 3000 mAh. Amazon.co.uk. I heard the Samsung is higher drain. Is it necesary to have a high A for the Tn42? Thanks.

The TN42 doesn’t require much current from the batteries. Protected 18650B will be fine.

I am using a set of Panasonic protected 3400mAh
Could not see a difference with 30Qs

I would go with protected Sanyo 18650GAs

if you want max runtime batteries with a really low resistance PCB might be good

Thanks for you reply. Just wondering if the Panasonic batteries in my link on amazon are genuine, if you read some of the reviews some people were calling them fake? The distributor does say Panasonic.

Distributor says “Amazon”, but based on those reviews, I think I would find another source, if it was me.

Cheap and 100% no fake

With protection they get expensive

I use NCR18650GA or NCR18650B, both without protection circuit

Amazon reviews often are made by people that don’t know a lot about batteries. Maybe they use that on strange devices, maybe they measure the capacity discharging on a power bank looking at the rated capacity amperage passed through at 5.x V and they don’t adjust the value to 3,7 V…

Hi, i checked out the website that Lexel posted, really nice, for now i would prefer to order from a UK site. I found this site Buy 18650, 21700, 20700 and 26650 Batteries online | Fogstar UK Everyone i spoke to say they are genuine batteries. Didn’t know the Sanyo NCR18650GA came protected and only for £4.99. I was planning on getting an Opus 3100 v2 charger to discharge them to check capacity. What do you guys think of the Opus? Thanks. :+1:

Just curious, but why would the protected Sanyo GA's be better for the TN42 over the protected NCR18650B's if the tn42 is not really pulling much current?

Slightly more capacity. But you can sometimes get the Panas for a really low price, I wouldn’t bother paying the premium price for the GAs then. (protected that is)

Also noticed almost the same price as the protected NCR18650B so might as well stick with the GA's.

3400B protected sometimes go for 20$ for 4 pieces. Never seen protected GAs cheaper than 9$ per piece.

I bought 4 pieces of the 3400b from aliexpress and dumped them all. They were almost oval in shape and the protection circuit was really poorly mounted. Where did you see them in the past these for around 20$?
