For zooming lovers, the new M12 Keygos with 26650

I ordered this flashlight yesterday. I'm curious to see what it's like.

The funny part is I don't plan to use this flashlight as it is designed, as a flood-to-throw.

My intention is to use this light as my "walkabout" flooder. My plan right now is to remove the zooming head to expose the pill, install glass over the emitter, and then wear the light (sans the head) in my Nite Ize swivel holster. We'll see if this new light is a worthy replacement for my UltraFire P10-R5, which is my current "immediate vicinity" flooder.

Extremely compact and light, the P10-R5 has been extremely useful in this role. Without the reflector or bezel, and with only a glass lens installed, the P10 produces a very wide curtain of light, and operating from the swivel holster makes it so convenient to use.

I'm hoping this Keygos has mode memory, or that it always starts on high... It will be heavier than the P10 for sure, but the 26650 should offer longer runtimes on a light that I anticipate using constantly. I'm curious to see if XML offers a wider curtain of light too. Well see.

Tell us how good it is as a flood to throw before you mod it pleasem and yes, it has 5 modes.

That looks very similar to an Ultrafire one that wasn't considered to be very good. 1600 lumens is such a ridiculus lie that I would want to avoid it entirely.

There is a Yezl flood to throw that seems to be a bit better. Heres a review link that shows both teh yezl and the ultrafire that I was discussing.

Bottom line seems to be that the throw on XM-L is really awful because the emitter is so freaking fat and not very directional.

joe1512, the good thing of it, it works with 26650, which will give a better runtime on a relatively compact light, and if you do not like XM-L for flood to throw lights, you could replace it by an XR-E with about 3 hours of runtime on high.

It is more a thing of taste in my opinion, I really like XM-L with big lenses, it throws less than XR-E yes, but throws a good distance, and the flood is its better thing when the lens is well designed, it shows an homogeneous huge circle.

I won an ebay auction on this light, with charger and two 26650 batteries, can’t wait to try it out

did you pay $30 or less?

Close, $29.55

Good price toysareforboys,

I want to wait, but I began eating my nails, and I have reached my elbows already!! Haha.

I hope you like it, and let us know as soon as possible how it performs.

Will do, but damn shipping from China to Canada ain’t fast

Finally got my new light, charged up the batteries (took forever! lol).

Can you paste the ebay link where you won it?

Can't seem to find it with batteries and charger at $30, only the flashlight itself at that price.

My ebay history says item not found. It was from this seller for this item: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/26650-1600Lm-CREE-XM-L-XML-T6-LED-Flashlight-Torch-Zoomable-KEYGOS-M12-Charger-/140681815820?pt=UK_SportsLeisure_Camping_LightsLanternsTorches&hash=item20c14a270c#ht_5331wt_1163

It had a few bids on it and was up to $9CAD, so I bid $11CAD and won it :) With shipping and everything it was around $30CAD.

Thanks,

When did you order this? It looks like the prices spiked quite high. You can get M12 with 2x 26650 and charger for $55 now. :(

Your deal looks great comparing to current prices.

Viktor

Yeah, it doesn’t look like they do auctions starting at $1 any more? The auction I won ended on Jan 15th.

Hopefully they list more for auction instead of just buy it now, I guess keep an eye on his ebay store.

Here it is again, Keygos M12 + 2x 18650 batteries + charger, available for $24.99 shipped:

Yep! Very comfortable to hold. Super crazy long run times on 26650’s (I haven’t charged the battery yet and have been using it tons!). Love it. After I cleaned the LED and painted the internals black, it works great now

Have you seen the picture of the reflector on ebay? It's got fingerprints all over it! Must come as standard, instead of putting a little sticker on telling you who built the light, he leaves his fingerprints and DNA all over the reflector. Cool!

Marc.

Hehe. :)

It's not a reflector, though, it's an aluminum protection that needs to be painted black anyway. ;)

If quality of the 26650 battery can be judged by comparing to the quality of the 186650, then I'd rather buy a proper 26650 separately.

The whole package price here is cheaper than just M12 on other ebay deals so I've ordered one.

After it arrives and I thoroughly test it I'll probably order a 26650 or a pair separately.

Viktor

I ordered for $25 today. Sorta feel like I should have waited for the 26650 offer at $30 but I'd rather have IMR 26650s

Anybody up on the best price for those?
