BLF style 18650 1s thrower( poor mans Olight M2X)

Nice idea. But I think it protrudes to much into reflector which may result in wider beam. So try to lift reflector a bit by putting tight and larger diameter o ring under reflector upper base or lip.

If you think it is good centered make “1 meter white wall recheck test”. For best lux performance beam should not have donat hole in the middle of the beam at that distance. Since I learned that on mine mistakes  Now every Mitko’s thrower go well over 320-340kcd with good old g2s42b.

The led should be further away? I used a spacer that is like 0.5 mm and te beam is pretty wide. Should i put a spacer in there that is like 1 mm? Or remove a part of the reflector…

@djozz i got a crappy wide beam. If i dont use a spacer between reflector and mcpcb the beam is still to wide for what i think it should be. Do you know what i can do? I used an 26mm mcpcb with xpl hi.

@polarweiss, I don’t know what is different in your build, are you sure that the reflector is not prevented to get close enough to the board by some obstruction? And that the led is centered precise enough?
At least in my two builds (Black Flat and dedomed XP-G2), the reflector at less than 0.5mm to the board gave a well focused led.

Finally I received this light to play with (first order got lost). I haven’t made much pictures of the build only the two below.

I sanded down the pill rim and in the center of the pil I added a sanded down noctigon. On top I placed the maxtoch mcpcb with dd xml2 u4. All glued together with artic silver adhesive.

Took a while to get the focus right, but it has a real nice useful beam now.

Didn’t like the shiny ano, so baked the light on the stove.

That is a nice solution Geuzz! (and a good colour too)

Very nice and light light. It encourages people to step forward into modding art and it is probably best reflector thrower in this reflector size(diameter, depth, single 18650) in a world.

Thnx! It’s a really nice beginners mod light. Does not cost much and very rewarding in the end.

Nice work Geuzzz. :+1:

Did anybody find a good centering gasket? The stock one is crap in my opinion. Or are there any trick center it succesfully? The Reflektor always off-centers on the last steps of tightening. :frowning:

No answers? I am planning to build another one of these. Got the first one right, but after a lot of adjusting. A tighter centering ring would help a lot.

$12.77 on eBay, at least for the next 27 minutes:

(Back to $20 now…)

Much appreciated. Got one to cut my teeth with modding.

Centering gasket?

Yes I really tried with it… Ordered from Simon to… But no matter what I tried it did not looked nice to my eyes.

The best you can do for yourself is that you don’t use it at all… This is product of eyeballing:

A bit uneven spill from side to side is product of drilling reflector base with accu drill but the most important thing is perfect hotspot with 300+ kcd

Looks kind a warm towards green? Yeah baby! Because it is good old XP-G2 S4 2B inside :+1:

This is probably only reflector light beside Jacob A60 that I actually like.

Long live the Mitko!

Is there a copper pill that fits into this light?

Not that I know of. I have one unmodded at home, I can have a look at it.

If took the top rim of mine and added a large mcpcb, but the wires shorted.
So i want a copper or aluminium pill and use a smaller mcpcb with the wires more pretected.

Was measuring the throw on my D1s today (120kcd). I also tried my souponfire light (dedomed xml2-u4, Blf a6 driver, 24agw wires) and got 205kcd. Maybe could have got higher numbers with thicker wires, but I am still amazed by the potential of this budget light.

Hello,
could you advice, is better to use Manker 28mm MCPCB for a tight fit instead of Maxtoch 26mm MCPCB?
