Solar walkway/garden lights? Best options?

Anyone have any stake or other style walkway lights they can suggest?
Would prefer something with decent output and that could actually provide some light to navigate steps etc… budget friendly would be nice too.

I found some on Amazon for about $25 for a 12 pack but the output seems awful.

Thanks

I have thought about this myself, but all the solar ones I have seen have been terrible.
I would be interested to see a better solution, but the best I can think of is a larger solar panel with charge regulator and 12V battery somewhere strategic, then cable through to 12v LED lights with a day/night sensor.

Cost and cabling, the two things you probably want to avoid.

Better bet would be to tie it in with something else, like a gate motor, so the cost is more justified.

Using strings on our bridges and to mark the front gate
AliExpress, around $14/$15 for 20meters warm white
no they do not light the ground heheh we have flashlights for that
But it gives a very good idea where to walk and atXmas I plan on press the mode button so they blink

I wish someone like Convoy or Thorfire would produce an affordable Solar Pathway Light. Decent quality good 18650. I could use several of these. All of the ones i have tried from HD and Lowes have been pretty bad.

The cheap ones are pretty pathetic. During the SUMMER with ADEQUATE sun, they work. But the solar panel is tiny. As soon as sunlight starts becoming more limited, if that’s your location issue, they drain more than they charge and die. Doesn’t matter if you have a larger/better battery if you can’t charge it.
In the fall I yank all of mine except 1. That one has 2xAA that are very easy to get at. I just manually charge every few days. I do not put good batteries in my solar lights. This is where the high IR ‘junkers’ go.

Our solar garden lights went dimmer week after week and then died. Not that they had any light to begin with.

I second the idea for Convoy or Thorfire to come up with a decent garden/outdoor product.

That would be great if they did. Something with at least 20-30 lumens of flood lighting so that they could actually illuminate the ground.

I was thinking of doing a self build as well but wouldn’t even know where to begin and I think the cost would be high.

I received a solar light from one of the companies that did a GAW here a couple months back. The light is plenty bright and it runs off of an 18650. I’m guessing that the problem with yours was probably the battery dying/not holding a charge. With the one I got, you can just open it up and replace the 18650 with something better, even a protected cell if I don’t trust the solar charging circuit to terminate.

Death by either overcharging or overdraining are both possibilities that a protected cell will address.

EDIT: The one that I got is not on a stake, it’s meant to attach to a vertical surface like a wall. I have it attached to the wall outside my garage.
