Youâll need high CRI emitters to make warm white look like incandescent light, otherwise it will indeed look yellowish and your skin will look greenish yellow due to the absence of deeper red.
I bought the first OTR M3 for my wife and the 5C was unusable for me (muddy/dim/yellow-brown), the battery on the other hand was great.
I ordered the full pack 1C for myself and itâs a different light entirely. I donât use the charger butt the battery is fine and what a difference in output.
Bright and usable even on the lowest setting.
Totally agree. I have an OTR M3-5C and it is quite yellow to me, but even though I like it to be a bit less yellow, it still beats the cool white Olight S1.
I recently got a Sofirn light thatâs got to be 7A or 7D, as itâs quite âincandescentâ, and fleshes out reds pretty nicely. At first, I was doubtful, thinking, âHmmm, is this too yellow?â, but I quickly got used to it, and frankly, itâs now become my nighttime light (ENC??) displacing all my others.
I keep it on moonlight so I donât blind myself when itâs pitch-black, but even if I kick it up a notch, itâs nowhere near as jarring as cooler lights or even neutral-warm lights (4C).
I donât go shining it on myself to marvel at my wonderful skin-tones, so even if itâs not high-CRI, I donât rightly care all that much. I just want to see whatâs around, and not trip, fall, and brain myself in the middle of the night.
And a nice warrrrrrrm light is⌠well, you just gotta try it.
â
Ha! Iâm just playing with that light now, and I gotta tell ya, Iâm really liking it. Even full-tilt, itâs not nearly as jarring and strident as my nice 5000K (XP-L) â502. Damn, I just about blinded myself with that (the â502) right now.
In terms of batteries, looks like these are the only contenders for me. The Lumintop 16340 batteries is very cheap at US$7.99 delivered for two, so I will likely order two. But these are protected cells and I have no idea how much current it can discharge?
Does anyone have experience with the PKCELL batteries???
I havenât read all the comments to the OP but the OTR bundle with charger and cell is really top notch stuff.
The cell is excellent, I really never did use that little charger they sent but I believe it would be good as well.
I have 4 of the M3âs and it is a fantastic light, I was really surprised when I got my first one.
The cell surprised me also, I really expected junk but I can say for sure it isnât junk IMO and anything under $20 for a M3 whether just the light or the bundle is a great deal.
Donât buy the zoomy one that looks similar to the M3, now that is fairly well junk, the M3 is in a class of itâs own.
Thanks for the tip CRX, I got the message of course; I'd have saved a few coins but there was no mention with regards to batteries and I didn't asked. What's the mileage on the included cell?
No problem, really. For sure I'll find a way to use those other cells, sooner or later. If not for flashlights, probably some item overhaul/conversion. LoL!
I wonder if the people here is paying attention. Those low drain batteries will crumble in the M3 when on turbo, limiting output (as I believe it happened to freemein his review). It also doesn't helps out when flashlight makers force you to use stupid button top cells, though I can understand th⏠râŹa$on$.
I am with you on that. Ordered the complete set when I was in Perth, Western Australia without any problems. You could try ebay for batteries or send EverydaySurvivalGear a message. He's a member of this very good forum and from Australia as well.
Well it originally came from China so about 4,811 mi there, then the trip from me to you is about another 1500 mi, so maybe 6311 miles altogether, not counting short EDC trips to the shops etc.
FastTech wonât ship batteries to Australia. I created an account and tried it, and all the shipping options are greyed out with the reason listed next to each one as â- cannot ship battery cellsâ. The following message also comes up. SighâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚ
