Q8, PMS SEND TO THOSE WITH ISSUES BLF soda can light

Okay, I guess that is the first reported non working Q8. I’m sure the Miller will contact you about it.

Then you don’t own a MH20.

Grooves of the tailcap misaligned, flat parts of the tube misaligned.

Cutting the threads and milling the flat parts or grooves are most probably done at two different steps of the manufacturing process. To have head + tube + tailcap aligned you should have to align those parts always exactly the same way before every machining steps. A custom-maker could do so but not mass-producing manufacturers. Not the same cost at the end, well I guess because I’m not a machinist.

Oh yes they have been…
Right back here……… Q8 #1

All good too. :+1:

And yeesssss… we are having fun. Just rolling with the flow.
.

Wow lots of new posts, sorry morning routine is emails first, then PMs and then rest of BLF, of course starting with Q8.

Some reactions
Yes it is unfortunate that the only part not specified and was given as nice bonus is causing issues. Yes with 2000 ready to be made going for a problem free seemed more logical
I would feel like sh#tting on BLF if we would not fo it this way and it is unfortunate people feel sh#tted on by doing what I think is right.
As written, we accepted slow response during the process but not now and we don’t even have to pull for answers, Thorfire is very much on top of it.
There is a shipping date mentioned on the pre order page and it does not look like it will not be met, we thought it would be send out sooner then this came…

Then the list, I have it, while editing it into another post to make the OP easier to read, the tab I had that post open in crashed, I didn’t notice it and had already copied something else in memory. Lucky me, Mr.Scott and SB have backups so I received it from Mr.Scott by mail. Will edit it in later and don’t worry, now have backups of all important topic start posts.

Did I read words describing waiting or dealing with issues as suffering? Come on, half the alphabet worth of hurricanes smashed islands and coastal regions
A Mexican school has a list of kids SURVIVING the collapse of the building , not the deceased, after a 7 minutes earthquake hit a monster city.
That is suffering!

Teacher, you have a DOA, will add you to the OP.
DO NOT OPEN IT, DO NOT TRY TO FIX IT, SEND IT TO TOM, he will send you a good one. I take care of shipping both lights.
Tom will examine it and see what is up with that, he is highly skilled and we know we can trust him for being open about issues.
PM incoming.

Nope… sure didn’t.
Maybe that just leaves me in the “extremely lucky” camp Tally-ho.
I’ll take that any day….

I have some doubts about their response since I was able to track my parcels at dpdgroup.hk in the beginning and WHOIS names “DPD DYNAMIC PARCEL DISTRIBUTION GMBH & CO. KG” as the domains “Registrant Contact Information”.

Nice fix. That’s much better than the 6mA drain you had earlier. It’s barely more than stock.

I meant nothing negative about the springs, like batteries not fitting, too tight or too loose. That kind of thing.

BTW, has anyone tried protected cells to see if they fit?

Hi Kusie,
I live also near Koblenz, i got my Lamp on Monday and it arrived with Hermes (it came from D-06110 Halle).
Every thing works great.

PLEASE do not ail Banggood, you will be “helped” by the normal customer support. a stressful experience that will only bring frustration and only solid thing that will come from it about shipping is, “please wait two more weeks and contact your local post office” you know this now, so don’t bother yourself or them

I have just received my Q8.It is OK.I see that the green light blinks for 2sec,and then it is stable.I have put 4pcs of 30Qs button top.The last ones from BG,because after that, they changed policy and don’t deliver to Greece. :frowning:

Sorry to contradict. But demanding extra money for trackable and fast delivery and not fulfilling the paid service is not ok. It’s also a bad idea to use Hermes for local delivery since they currently need an extra week for delivery in my place. If I (and others) don’t tell Banggood they don’t know where to improve.

OP updated with:
teacher DOA, solution, DO NOT OPEN OR TRY TO FIX, swap with a good Q8 of Tom, so Tom can investigate and report back in depth. Tom is a true “professional guy”

Flashy Mike, in the case of the Q8 t is best to let us collect all questions so we can give it to people at Banggood who are at a level that something is actually can be done with it. Using the normal customer support is just one ticket that gets answered by a non caring person and that is it. Add a Question for Banggoog, I will put it in OP so others can see it is on the to be reported list and we will make sure it gets to management level of people who do care.
Up to you of course, spend a minute and make 1 post and know it reaches somebody who can and most likely will do something with it stress and frustration 0-1, or start a tedious customer support communication taking a lot of time and knowing the chances of it being really cared about being zero to none and chances of frustration are close to 100

I have a 4 times experience with the Priority mail shipping option of BG,and it is very good. Also,I pay for insurance whenever it is offered. So far, there is not any item lost, although I see that a parcel with 4pcs of 30Qs is delayed and unknown from 08/30,ordered at 08/23 by Priority mail.

Almost forgot to react to this.
Alignment is hard, a reason we go for a single long tube for the GT.
That ding, auch, looks like a worker dropped it before packaging on a sharp metal table edge or something.
No other dings and scratches? Glass clean?

In this version of Narsil the moon setting does not configure the ramp floor. It basically treats moon as a separate mode from the rest of the ramp.

So, you can configure the brightness of long-press-from-off, but it does not have a way to make the ramp start at a higher or lower level.

For the record … received my Q8 day before yesterday. Switch beacon seemed to work correctly for a few cycles and is now deceased. I hope a fix can be provided with return and repair. Thanks and good luck with the remedy.

Maybe set pin high > off
Tristate pin with high value external pulldown resistor > low brightness
Set pin low > LED full brightness

(Or the other way round, if not switching the LED on the low side)

In the off state there would still be the drain through the external (high value) pulldown, but that wouldn’t be a problem for this torch.

I’d quite like to have a really bright “beacon” option, enough for a gentle nightlight.

Yes i hope the same, fixed shipping switch boards or something not much difficult to do

Will add you to the OP later
Please can you take pictures?
